Best I have heard in quite a while!
Engaging, touching, gripping! Everything from the narrator to the storyline resonated with me. A must for every Sci-Fi fan!

Took some getting used to
Interesting story, can’t wait for book 2. But the narrator along with the many made-up words took quite some getting used to.

A Story of Rage and Sorrow. That's what this book is. Originally I wash fooled by it's disguise as a Sci-Fi Fantasy About space and Starships. And yes those things do- appear in this book, THEY are not the main point, the trial is. And honestly this book blew my mind away with it. It's story is thrilling and enthralling! The way we see everything through Darous perspective it great and the action is well written, characters interesting and complex, tue setting immersive, the world terrifying. Honestly this book is just such a masterpiece. The reason it doesn't have a 10 however is because I would've prefered just a bit more Romance, Mustang's inclusion was fantastic though. A step in the right direction but it needed a bit of small push still.

It is not what it seems in the beginning
I've come back here to write a review since I saw some people didn't continue reading the book because the beginning is dull or the narrator has a weird accent. I first read the series and then "reread them on audible" because they are so unbelievably exciting and get increasingly better with each book. It took some getting used to the voice actor but now everytime I hear his voice in the sequels I only hear Darrow and I know it's bout to get gooood!
I agree that the beginning was slow and it reminded me of other distopian YA books like Hunger Games but I'm SO HAPPY I pushed through because it turned the tables completely! If it was slow at the beginning suddenly I felt like I was thrown in the back seat with sudden acceleration and all the characters progressively joined me in the fear and excitement of what would come next. Any expectation I had of how a scene would go down represented like 25% of what ended up happening and how it happened. And again every book just gets more savage than the previous one. Cannot recommend it enough. Also got my boyfriend into reading and he loved the series!

Spannend, hart, gut.
Was wäre für andere Hörer sonst noch hilfreich zu wissen, um das Hörbuch richtig einschätzen zu können?
Die Einteilung in "Farben" - also gewisse Kasten in der Gesellschaft - erscheint etwas unglaubwürdig, aber davon abgesehen ist die Geschichte packend, gut erzählt, realistisch und man fiebert mit. Ganz großes Kino!

As red as the planet
I took part in a book discussion of this book the other week. I'm not sure I'd have discovered it otherwise, but boy, am I glad that I did!. This has to be the best scifi story I've read (listened to) in quite some time! It has a dystopian touch, too. The characters are great, not predictable at any given time, and they develop, but not just in one direction. The idea, the plot, the pace, everything is perfect, and I really, really loved the narration. I was so drawn in that I immediately continued with the second volume in this trilogy, but I'll write more there.
Out of five stars I'd give six, for the book AND the narrator. I'm very impressed and can recommend this to every reader, you don't need to be a science fiction fan to enjoy this book, cause it is so much more than scifi.

Hammer
Hätten Sie das Hörbuch am liebsten in einem Rutsch durchgehört?
Das Buch beginnt etwas langsam, und ich als Fantasy Fan war erst etwas verwirrt mit den Sci-Fi Informationen, welche ich bekommen habe. Schnell gewöhnte ich mich jedoch daran und konnte das Hörbuch kaum mehr weglegen. Die Story ist spannend, brutal und die Charaktere, teils etwas flach, aber trotzdem sehr gut gestaltet. Tim Gerard Reynolds ist ein begnadeter Vorleser, welcher oft mit der Stimme spielt und sogar singt! Ich konnte die einzelnen Gefühle nicht immer den Charaktere zuordnen in den Dialogen, aber auf jeden Fall gelungen - das beste Hörbuch welches ich bis jetzt gehört habe - dank dem Talent des Vorlesers.
Was wäre für andere Hörer sonst noch hilfreich zu wissen, um das Hörbuch richtig einschätzen zu können?

Gods story, worst narrator.
I loved the books, but after some hours I simply had to stop listening to the worst accent I’ve ever heard in my life.

Fantastic Narrator, real fun story
This is a surprisingly well written book - even though the story is a string of clichés and the main character is a massive marry sue.
The narrator is also fantastic and a great fit for the material.
You won't find something to challenge your mind here - but you certainly won't be bored.

Epic
This is simply one of the best series I have read in a long time. The story is epic, characters and the whole theme of the universe simply fantastic. It starts off a little slow, but get's pace quickly, so just hold your horses through the mines.
The best book of the series is part 2, "Golden Son". There are scenes of such epic proportions in this book, you will not believe it until you read it. Glorious.
