All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels.
All Systems Red tackles questions of the ethics of sentient robotics. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.
In a corporate-dominated spacefaring future, planetary missions must be approved and supplied by the Company. Exploratory teams are accompanied by Company-supplied security androids, for their own safety.
But in a society where contracts are awarded to the lowest bidder, safety isn't a primary concern.
On a distant planet, a team of scientists are conducting surface tests, shadowed by their Company-supplied 'droid - a self-aware SecUnit that has hacked its own governor module, and refers to itself (though never out loud) as "Murderbot."
Scornful of humans, all it really wants is to be left alone long enough to figure out who it is. But when a neighboring mission goes dark, it's up to the scientists and their Murderbot to get to the truth.

Excellent, but short
The story is very enjoyable. The narrator manages to convey the mood very good for the most part, except when imitating different voices.
I have to agree with the other reviewers that, despite the quality of the book, the short length is somewhat disappointing for a whole credit.

Refreshing action packed sci-fi
Really enjoyed it, it is a light read, entertaining and action packed. The story is simple and logical. One audible credit well spent.

We love murderbot..
..so I won't comment on the story and only on the speaker. I am no native English speaker and I could follow the clear voice very good without having to go back to hear again. Something was a bit annoying though. When the speaker read the women's voices (especially discernible with Dr. Mensah), they were all so dulcet, so soft spoken, and since this wasn't the speaker's normal voice and obviously wasn't easy to do, the woman all spoke noticeable slower as a result. This was a bit of an immersion breaker for me. As a woman myself, i really don't need these slow dulcet women's voices, it is so unnecessary.

A story to enjoy multiple times

Highly enjoyable short SciFi novel
It might be too short for a full credit (as it’s just a bit over three hours) but I got it with one of the special abos that Amazon run for Audible.
I found it very enjoyable, has a good amount of plot for such a short story, with good tense scenes and humour. I think I mixed some of the humans up from time to time but that always happens to me.
I liked the reader's voice too. Hit the right tones for Murderbot in my opinion.

Too short for one full credit
As many others have said, the story is nice, but it is way too little to be worth a full credit. It should be half, out come in a bundle with the next books.

Wonderful and refreshing book, but badly narrated
Loved the book - refreshing, fascinating, captivating.
Love the whole series so far (5 Books).
Sadly the narration was totally not to my liking. The narrator has a pleasant voice but it's intonation and reflection of emotions did not match the content at all for me. I had to stop midway before it ruined my good memories of this book. Something that hasn't happened too often before :(

Just wonderful
I had suuch a good time with this book! The humor, the world, the way the story kept me on my feet. Now that it’s for free on audible it’s basically a must-listen if you like sci-fi!

Breath of fresh air
Lovely short story with a twist. Exciting, relaxing and interesting all at the same time. Not a long story, but very worth the listen.
