No match for The Silent Patient

The whole plot is as unconvincing as the characters, not least owing to the "omniscient" narrator figure in it. Languagewise I found the book almost unbearable to read for its overuse of the most basic paratactical sentences, and the speaker's monotonous performance does nothing to overcome that overall sense of boredom.
