It took a second and for the protagonist to talk to a character he's not sure he likes for me to realize I was listening to Arthur Morgan's voice. The nuance in Roger Clark's performance is exactly what this story needs.

Endlich einmal wieder eine echte Geschichte anstatt das Abarbeiten von Erfolgsvorlagen. Originell, und berührend mit fein gezeichneten, detaillierten Charakteren gepaart mit einem ausgezeichneten Leser.

I usually love Tana French and this book is very atmospheric and a good character study. However, the story did not catch me, it dragged on and there was not enough to it. The voice of the reader is gtrad though, I really enjoyed listening to him.

Good voice, boring story

Rarely have I found a reader to fit the story as well as he does here. Greatly written, believable characters, athmospheric, exciting story that I really enjoyed listening to. Feels like I just spent a few days in rural Ireland.

Great reading/listening experience

Das Buch war einerseits fesselnd, andererseits besonders in den letzten Hörstunden für mich sehr unglaubwürdig. Ich will keine Spoiler geben, darum nur: Cal nimmt das alles so hin? Für sich selbst, für Brendan und für Trey? Wirklich? Und ein Hund am Ende soll die Psyche nach einigem Trauma wieder ins Lot bringen? Ausserdem war er lange Polizist und kennt sich aus mit legalities und resources. Ich mochte das Ende nicht und konnte mich auch nicht damit trösten, dass im echten Leben vieles ungesühnt/ungeklärt bleibt. Wie soll eine 13 jährige mit der Info, die auf sie einströmt umgehen. Absurde Erwartungshaltung. Vielleicht hat mich auch die macho Leserstimme extra irritiert.

as usually Tana French tells not only a twisted crime story but also and very much about feelings and behaviours of very different kinds of persons. In her unique and sensible way she keeps us, the readers, wondering in search of our own judgmental way of living ... as a listener I had to get used of the Americans irish accents, but in the end liked to recognize each figure by voice immediately ... very much.

Tara French keeps you proofing your own heart and tolerances ...

I absolutely enjoyed this atmospheric and slowly building mystery which is perfectly presented by Roger Clark,his voice brings this to life and I could not imagine anyone
better for it. I could feel the fine mist and see the landscape and all the characters were right there in the room with me. Great job!
I also loved the story itself which slowly unfolds and draws one in dreeper and deeper, Time well spend!

Beautifully narrated story

The end of the story left me longing for justice and sick of an upcoming peace. Well written, and maybe more truthful than stories with a guardian angel with a proper sword the story turned out to be a coming-of-age novel. But I enjoyed the story, i found it very well performed by Roger Clark and it described the protagonists in detailed pictures. No cliffhanger, no sequel I guess.

Ireland's rural spots seem to have a problem...
