i can't say the narrator is my favorite (at least not in this book). i struggled sometimes to distinguish tge characters. but really liked the book, perhaps a bit more than the other void books. looking forward to the next one :)

Teil eins der 'Chronicles of the Fallers'-Reihe vom britischen Kult-Science Fiction-Schreiberling Peter F. Hamilton. Wer hier ankommt, ist eingefleischter Commonwealth-Fan und hat schon die berühmte Duologie aus 'Pandora's Star' und 'Judas Unchained' sowie die Void-Trilogie hinter sich. Allen anderen sei dies zuerst empfohlen, denn die Bücher lassen sich nicht spoiler- und problemfrei miteinander austauschen.

Nigel Sheldon, der aus der Duologie bekannte selbsternannte Herrscher der Galaxie und Industriemagnat, wird in seinem Exil in der Andromeda-Galaxie von Paula Maio überzeugt, in den Void, das Taschenuniversum in der Mitte der Milchstraße, zu reisen und dessen Bedrohung ein für alle Mal zu stoppen.

Es folgt eine Geschichte, die auf der zweiten menschlichen Welt im Void, Bienvenido, spielt. Nigel selbst tritt in den Hintergrund und PFH stellt eine Welt unter Invasion der gestaltwandelnden Faller vor, die die Menschheit mit der Auslöschung bedrohen.

Wie bei PFH schon fast üblich setzen transformatorische Prozesse ein, in diesem Fall die Revolution gegen ein aristokratisches Militärregime. Teils gibt es hier einige Längen, aber keinesfalls derart wie in der Void-Trilogie. Am Ende reicht es immer für ein spektakuläres Ende, das den Ausgangspunkt für den zweiten und letzten Teil der Fallers-Reihe darstellt.
