Way too short and somewhat of a filler
Love the series and I guess it’s important to bridge stuff so it all makes more sense in the end but that doesn’t change the fact that this book is slightly underwhelming “nothing” really happens - well that’s not true but basically they’re on the road, looking for night, looking for night, looking for night (and that in a really distracted way) and then stuff is getting interesting again… book over…
Rating is because the series overall is really awesome and I love the reader, but this part of the story although necessary could have been way better…

Hard Quality drop
I guess this is the last book of the series I am going to read. The quality is just not there anymore and listening to it feels like a chore.
The main problem is Iona:
Ionas entire character makes no sense anymore - you could completely cut her and it would not make any difference in the overall story.
I completely lost count of how many times they randomly start to "flirt" - the book would half as long as it is without these constant repetitions of them haven the same interactions with each other.
Later in the story Iona is the fake deciding factor for a decision that is completely clear from the start and her "issues" with Elaine doing this or that are utterly ridiculous. It is drama for the sake of drama and it just makes no sense - the fact that everyone with half a brain knows exactly what is going to happen makes it not any better.
I really liked Iona at the beginning but now her actions do not reflect her past, she is not relevant to the plot and became this weird character that just exists to stretch the story.
