Inhaltsangabe
Move over, Buffy! Tinker not only kicks supernatural butt - shes a techie genius, too!
Inventor, girl genius Tinker lives in a near-future Pittsburgh which now exists mostly in the land of the elves. She runs her salvage business, pays her taxes, and tries to keep the local ambient level of magic down with gadgets of her own design. When a pack of wargs chase an Elven noble into her scrap yard, life as she knows it takes a serious detour. Tinker finds herself taking on the Elven court, the NSA, the Elven Interdimensional Agency, technology smugglers and a college-minded Xenobiologist as she tries to stay focused on whats really important her first date. Armed with an intelligence the size of a planet, steel toed boots, and a junk yard dog attitude, Tinker is ready to kick butt to get her first kiss.

Tinker is just horrible
Tinker is probably one of the worst protagonists I have ever witnessed and it's made even worse because I like the person she is introduced as, the problem is that everything the story wants me to think about her is untrue or changes after the the 1st few chapters.
The book tells me that she is intelligent, but in every situation when it counts she just goes into panic mode and doesn't use her brain at all.
The book tells me she is courageous, but every time after the 1st time she saves Windwolf she just changes into a wimpering weakling if actual harm is threatened.
The book praises her good character, but from anything I can see here she likes toying with the hearts of the men that are all falling for her instead of taking some responsibility for her own decisions and choosing one.
This book was an experience in frustration, since after around chapter 4-5 I could only scream inwardly how I wanted Tinker to use her head, but she just never decided to use it, instead she seemed to like stumbling from one situation into the next without any weapons, any defenses, any preparations and later on without any magical elven training.
She also willingly ran away from her protectors multiple times and it was the wrong the decision every time except once and that one good time could easily have been solved without running away and instead talking to Windwolf later.
This story is also plagued by multiple ppl taking in riddles wich then leads to absolutely unnecessary and annoying disscusions of "I told you so!" after the fact even tough every person with half a brain knows that the character talking nonsense is the problem not the character that couldn't figure it out.
I'm very disappointed, everything is there for a very good story from worldbuilding to good character templates, the problems are how the characters are written into the story and how they evolve throughout the story.
