A very good narrator to a typical story
The story was alright. It was good planned, but not really surprising. The best part is actually the narrator. She did a really, really good job like in In a Dark, Dark Wood. Just because of the narrator I heard the story.

good plot, nice twists
good plot, nice twists, even tough I guessed right quite some time from the end. overall, a bit long. but what really amnoyed me was the dialog "are you okay? i am okay" over and over again every two minutes. yes, pregnant woman, stressed etc -we got it!

Starts slow, but great ending
I found first half of the book not very thrilling, but the great narrator kept me going.
Also knowing other books of Ruth Ware, I knew it must get more interesting, and it did!
You think you know what happened, but you‘re wrong ;-)
I do not regret listening at all!

Spannend, aber phasenweise langatmig
Spannend und unvorhersehbar, aber teilweise etwas langatmig. Leider habe ich die Charaktere teilweise als recht klischeehaft angelegt empfunden und die übertriebene Sprache, sowie der Soundeffekt bei den Telefonaten haben mich beim Hören irritiert. Aber das ist sicher Geschmacksache…

Very thrilling
I enjoyed the audio book very much. I was hooked, and even though I had the right suspicion who the killer was throughout the whole story, I got unsure about it in between. The characters were all very much, well, in character. Would recommend it! The only thing that was quite funny, was the overuse of „in spite“.

Spannend bis zum Schluss

Excellent listening
I love Imogen Church's presentation of the story. It's perfect, as usual. The plot is very good and surprising till the end. The characters are well drawn and the author catches the atmosphere at Oxford University perfectly.

Good narrator, story ok
This is by far not the best work of Ruth Ware, but it is quite entertaining anyway. The author really needs to learn how to write endings, the last 30-40 minutes are a waste of time. The book was read excellently by Imogen Church and the audio quality is also fine. But one thing I don't understand: Why use distortion effects for phone calls? This is a reading and not an audio drama where such things might be acceptable. What's next, engine noises when someone is driving?

Viel zu langatmig, Ende überzogen
Die Geschichte wäre auf 8 Stunden Hörbuch weniger auch erzählt gewesen, zwischenzeitlich hat es sich seeeehr gezogen. Auch das Ende fand ich leider übertrieben und nicht glaubwürdig. Insgesamt dennoch so spannend dass ich es irgendwann noch zu Ende hören wollte. Die Sprecherin fand ich sehr gut!

Audio quality is very very poor!
I love the books by Ruth Ware! I love the speaker, Imogen Church, perhaps even more. However, the audio quality of this book is very very poor. It sounds like the text was recorded in an empty hall way. Or bath room. Or railway station. After a few minutes I got a terrible headache from the echoing sound. Had to return the audiobook. I might pick up the paperback, because the story still seems interesting.
