One of the best series I read
I have been searching for a series like that for a long time- something which comepletely sucks you into another world, which is complex and intricately woven. Normally I hate this love- triangle concept and I am usually also somewhat inpatient with very slow developing love stories...but I have to say that the story arc of these books is absolutely perfectly wrought. The story is full of strong characters, and every character is created multidimensionally. While they become friends and allies with the main character, you somehow have the feeling they also become yours- you just want to know how their stories continue. Listening to these books cost me some precious sleep, because I just couldn’t stop...and now I am burning for third book! On some platforms I read people who criticized that this book series would be racist. Apparently they didn’t have the patience to read more then the first half of the first book. I think especially because the world of this series is so detailed and the main character is given time to develop and to grow out of her racist thought patterns, it has a very anti-racist effect- it gives the reader time to reflect and draw parallels to the real world as well. Additionally, it makes the drastic development of the main character into a fighter for equality more believable and realistic.
All in all, it is a really well and thoughtfully written, highly addictive book, and the narrator of the audio version fits perfectly with a variety of accents and voices which are necessary for this book- highly recommended!

Great continuation!
It was a bit slower in building the story but a lot more happened and to our group of friends and the twists seemed to be never ending! Absolutely awesome. I loved every minute if it and the reader is great, I love listening to her. It's amazing how she can bring so many wonderful characters to life.

Sogar besser als das erste
Es ist wundervoll, wenn ein Autor nicht nur eine coole Idee hat, daraus ein Buch macht und plötzlich nicht mehr weiß, was sie in FolgeBüchern schreiben soll. Das ist hier nicht der Fall. Das akribisch World Building aus dem ersten Teil trägt hier Früchte. The Black Witch enthält alles was man mit YA/Na Fantasy verbindet und ist fantastisch umgesetzt. Sogar das Love Triangle macht Sinn!
