Über diesen Titel
When world renowned Buddhist writer Stephen Batchelor turned 60, he took a sabbatical from his teaching and turned his attention to solitude, a practice integral to the meditative traditions he has long studied and taught. He aimed to venture more deeply into solitude, discovering its full extent and depth.
This beautiful literary collage documents his multifaceted explorations. Spending time in remote places, appreciating and making art, practicing meditation and participating in retreats, drinking peyote and ayahuasca, and training himself to keep an open, questioning mind have all contributed to Batchelor's ability to be simultaneously alone and at ease. Mixed in with his personal narrative are inspiring stories from solitude's devoted practitioners, from the Buddha to Montaigne, and from Vermeer to Agnes Martin.
In a hyperconnected world that is at the same time plagued by social isolation, this book shows how to enjoy the inescapable solitude that is at the heart of human life.

Pretentious and Incoherent
The author is an absolute show off claiming a moral high ground by simply quoting famous figures from the past, talking about psychedelics and the fact that he meditates.
I have never reviewed a book before because I have either been satisfied or not with a book and this was it for me. But this one is straight out disgusting and repelling. The author is nothing but a parrot thinking he stands on the shoulders of giants except that he doesn’t even manage to get on their shoulders in the first place.
The stories, the allegories, the anecdotes from his 60 years of life are beyond empty and without any substance.
Don’t waste your money of this.
If you wanna know how to live alone like me for a certain period of your life do the following:
• look for a hobby that satisfies you and gets you into the flow state
• pick a workout that you can do consistently and keep doing it
• meditate consistently
• be kind to yourself
• pick a career that actually makes you feel good and follow it and don’t give up
• don’t take drugs
• read / listen to books BUT NOT THIS ONE
0/10 cannot recommend
Have a nice day.
