A good read and listen

I really enjoy the story, considering it started out as reddit posts, it really came a long way. It's the right amount of creepy, funny and emotional. I've read and heard it a couple of times now and for me it hasn't lost it's touch at all. The ending isn't crazy shocking or brutal but still came as a suprise when I first read the book. I agree that the narration needs some getting used to in the beginning but his voice is very enjoyable and he portrays the dialogue very well. All in all I'd recommend the book/audiobook, especially to those people who already enjoy formats like the nosleep reddit and podcasts and are looking for a longer story to read or listen too.

Best Horror Book I ever read

I have been getting back into Horror fiction after a long hiatus (too much stephen king back then) and this is by far the best one so far. better than The Troop or other rescent Horror hits. If you like eldritch entities in the woods (like skinwalkers and the like) paired with demonic hautings this one is a must read.

New King in Horror

It was almost perfect. I was so amazed by this writers talent - i will watch him from now on! The characters and the relationships were a little bit.. empty, for me, if it would be more komplex next time, its a totally 5* for me! And the narration.. the narration was more than perfect.. it was creepy, and the childlike-voices and the monster growls were brutally-cool! Thank you!!!

terrifying

It seems like this story as well as the reading style are very hit or miss from person to person. For me its definitely a hit and discribes the experience of imminent evil crawling in your life in a very terrifying - what would I do? - kind of way

Nice book, bad audiobook

The story is creepy, solid, free of clisheeh.
Narrator suddenly yelling in my ears for no reason made listening challenging and unpleasant.

brillant

Es war so fessend das ich hab es an einem Tag durch gehört habe.
Die Charaktere sind gut geschrieben, die Story komplex aber leicht zu folgen und der Vorleser hat einen ausgezeichneten Job gemacht.
Definitiv unter den top 10 meiner lieblingsbüchern.

awful author and awful narrator

The author proclaims to hate exploiting native cultures for white people stories and than proceeds to do exactly that.

The narrator is good when he reads the story but for some gawd awful reason thinks that spoken dialog neads to be screamed.

Starts off strong but loses momentum

This book genuinely has the creepiest opening chapter I ever read. Towards the end it dragged a bit but there still moments that made me literally gasp!

The really predictable and pretentious plot

The narrator sounds like a drama club reject and that snarky and really weird tone he’s going with additionally decreases the value of this very mediocre book. Skip it, not worth a credit.
