Über diesen Titel
A compelling stand-alone lesbian paranormal romance, part one in the award-winning Shape-Shifter series.
For solitary novelist Jorie Price, true love seems as fictional as the shape-shifting creatures she writes about in her paranormal romances. Griffin Westmore doesn't believe in love, either, but she's one of those not-so-fictional shape-shifters who secretly live among humans.
When Jorie's writing gets uncomfortably close to the truth, Griffin is sent to investigate and, if necessary, kill the author to protect the secrets of her kind. But when Griffin unexpectedly finds herself drawn to Jorie, her world is turned upside down. Hell, she's supposed to kill the human, not fall in love with her! How can she complete her mission now?
Contains mature themes.

The book about a romance novel author, who writes a book about a woman falling in love with a shapeshifter, and falls in love with the shapeshifter herself. Funny!
But at some points it went just to far for me. It took ages. The characters don't fall out of their habits. They really do things they should do or say unless they must. I wanted to pound a little more fierceness into them.
Could have been faster

The whole world of Wrasa and Saru, of Hybrids, Tigers, Coyote-shifters, Kasari, the Maharsi and so much more, was fascinating!
It drew me in the first minute i started listening.
I’ve read a lot of books from Jae. This is much more complex and i must say i’m impressed.
It has, as always, very well written characters, a great story and a whole new world created. Wow!
Abby Craden did a fantastic job with Griffin‘s voice!
It was so smooth and catlike. I loved the sound of it. But also with all other characters.
It is an amazing audiobook! I will read all books of the Shape-Shifter Series. I‘m addicted!
So lovely and wild Big Cat‘s

The stereotype of lesbian relationships needing to be divided into "butch" (equals masculine and strong) and "femme" (equals feminine and vulnerable) still looms a bit over the book. Fortunately, this gets better during the course of the story. I also would have loved to hear more of Jorie's experiences as an Asian adoptee in America since it would have been just as an important detail to her identity as shapeshifting is to Griffin's. It just gets thrown in there however and is, again, never really explored. The characters' affection towards and care for Jorie sometimes felt a bit off and unwarranted, which seemed awkward at times.
Griffins character was great though and both have overall unique and interesting personalities. The relationship didn't seem rushed at all and actually manages to be pretty sweet and healthy despite the emotional and political turmoil both go through and despite their differences. The sex scene was overall good and charming, though I would've expected more mentioning of a clit.
I love how the shapeshifting aspect is intertwined with the story! It is explained reasonably and creatively, which makes for excellent world building. The author really knows a thing or two about cats, that's for sure.
The writing style is very much sweet and creative. Especially during the first few chapters, the sentence structure seemed really odd at times, like grammatically correct, yet somehow unfamiliar and stiff. This also gets much, much better throughout the story. Latter is predictable, but I personally didn't mind at all and I don't think it matters for the story.
The narrator does a pretty good job, although she didn't need to "try so hard" for the male voices - it felt like it took away from her great performance. Her interpretation of Griffin was great - very much purr-y and catlike.
Overall good lesbian fiction, a great shapeshifting story with a lovely unsual ending, tying it back to the start. Very much grateful that I purchased this and looking forward to the next!
Slightly wonky start, yet solid ending (literally)
