Break off in the middle
This was my first series of the author and i‘m really into mecha anf Ki stories. I love them! Also the author writes well for my taste and i like the speaker. However I broke off in the middle because i couldn‘t follow the story any longer.
The reason is kinda stupid: Between two parts (book 2 and 3) there is a gap in the series and a lot of things have happend not mentioned in this series. You just get an author-hint at the beginnend of book three that you should have read another book first - the sixt book of another series!!?! In my oppinion the author had a „cool idea“ in mind to combined two series of the same universe. Fair enough. But in this case it is technically a show stopper. I really like long Series and Books but I dont want to read six other books until i can continue with this series. So I tried to go on without reading it but without reading the other damn series the gap is too wide to close. Lots of new Charakters, new overpowering technologies even side characters have died.. What should I say.. even a brief star-wars-like introduction at the beginning would have helped.. but here the only help you get is a recommandation to read another book first. I am very disappointed! :(
So here the conclusion: no purchase recommendation - unless you have read the “orion war series”. Personally I will not do that because there are too many other books on my list. And with this „showstopper“ in mind it was my last purchase of the author to avoid further „surprises“.
