endlich habe ich das Hörbuch konsumiert. Space ohne cock&bull, brilliant erzählt. Der unaufgeregte Sprecher bringt die wissenschaftlich beobachtende Athmoshpäre perfekt rüber. Nichts für Leute, die klassische Suspense erwarten. Perfekt für mich.

versteh nicht ganz wieso niemand moniert das dieses Juwel nicht auf deutsch erscheint? was seid ihr denn für Typen? in Englisch ist das ganze doch viel schwieriger und bringt niemals den hörgenuss für native deutsch Hörer . wann darf man denn mit der deutsche Version rechnen liebe Audibles?

Narrator reads in a very monotonous voice except when reading something a character says. Sounds weird at first but you get used to it. Apart from that, the story is just marvelous. Every bit is adding more to the mystery and you're just sitting there painting pictures in your head (or on paper) of what that world the author describes could look like. In my head i adapted the story to the Studio Ghibli art style and it was just so wonderful! I've heard bad things about the sequels (the story ends with a somewhat of a cliffhanger/satisfying ending) since they were written by someone else later on, but this book was just so interesting that I need to hear the rest (which is geo-locked on Audible thx for nothing) before the Denis Villeneuve movie adaptation releases in a couple of years from now. His movie adaptation of DUNE 1 was so incredible, I'm beyond excited for Rama. This is one of my all time favourites now

UPDATE:
I'm not reading/listening to the sequels by Gentry Lee. This book works best as a standalone with a cliffhanger. The sequels resets everything Rendezvous With Rama sets up and brings more Ramas into the story and suddenly mankind is the center of the universe and Ramans aren't as amazing anymore.

Hopefully this book might be re-read in a more vivid way.

Great story, bad speaker

Dieses Buch ist nicht umsonst eines der wenigen Science-Fiction-Romane, welches drei von drei der renommiertesten Science-fiction Auszeichnungen erhalten hat.
Inhaltlich geht es, stark zusammengefasst, um den Kontakt und dem Umgang mit einer außerirdischen Zivilisation.
Es ist sowohl inhaltlich als auch sprachlich brilliant, obwohl es aufgrund der tendenziell eher wissenschaftlichen Darstellung der Beobachtung, recht anspruchsvoll ist und eine hohe Informationsdichte enthält. Die wissenschaftliche Darstellung ist jedoch nicht, wie man vielleicht annehmen könnte, trocken und langweilig, sondern gibt dem ganzen ein realistisches Fundament, und regt zum Nachdenken an. Auch sein hohes Alter (45Jahre) ist dem Buch inhaltlich nicht anzumerken. Dieses Hörbuch ist auch der Grund, weshalb ich persönlich Fantasy durch Science-fiction ersetzt habe. Jeder Science-fiction und wissenschaftlich interessierte sollte dieses Buch gehört/gelesen haben.
