Über diesen Titel
Somebody once told a joke.
A man ran in place all his life. He worked a job he didn't love for people he couldn't stand. But at the end of the day, the number in his bank account went up.
That man got a second chance at life. He woke up in another world, one full of adventures and romances and monsters and gods. And floating above his head, he saw the number "1".
So what did he say?
"Gosh, I better make the number go up."
Not today. Not for this old soul. Reborn as a beast of battle meant to live a short life and die screaming, Garek refuses. He puts the madness of skills and levels behind him and sets out to found a little farmstead. He grows crops. Maybe someday he'll get a pig and have bacon.
It's a shame the world won't let him be. It's a shame that the warmongers and level-grinders hate nothing more than a soul at peace.
He put down his sword for a plowshare, but when trouble comes calling, he'll pick it up again.

This just went from slow build to wtf
The first half of the story is a pretty slow build in wich some stuff is sprinkled in to hold the listeners attention. Sadly the story kinda died for me when the event it seemingly built up to suddenly popped up in the middle of the story and the protagonist wasn't even directly involved.
It has to be said until this moment the story never followed anyone other than the protagonist.
Additionally the aforementioned event is really badly written, it seemed to me that this author can't write fast paced scenes in an engaging way without creating confusion for the listener. That wasn't a problem until this event since the listener was following the protagonist who went into a blood rage in combat wich neetly explained the confusing fights, but because we now follow this side character who isn't a trained berserker it doesn't make sense that the whole fight and flight is just a confusing mess wich culminates in gifting this character an overpowered weapon out of nowhere and then making her black out.
It's not the worst story it's not even a very bad story, I just lost any interest in the story when the side character found an overpowered item in a confusing maze in wich she should've died 10 times over while the protagonist wasn't even in the vicinity.
If the side character would've been the protagonist I might still be interested, but I didn't buy the book because I wanted to listen to the adventures of the super lucky orc maiden.
