Über diesen Titel
Occult Feminism: The Secret History of Women's Liberation dives deep into the occult roots of the movement, detailing the lives of some of its most prominent figures and the esoteric beliefs that inspired and motivated them. Since the 1970s, everything we learn about the history of the women's movement has been subject to gatekeeping by radicals who run women's studies departments in universities. But there's an entire history that has been obscured from public view. Rachel Wilson brings this history to life, filled with incredible true stories of demon worship, spirit mediums, magic mushrooms, witchcraft, CIA spies, and sex cults--there's nothing boring about the real history of feminism, and it's all here.
In modern society, it is simply assumed that women’s liberation was a good thing. But what if it was never an organic, grassroots movement for social justice? Did feminism liberate women from an oppressive, evil patriarchy? Or did it rip away the fundamental structures that afforded them stability, security, and purpose, turning them into wage slaves for corporations and tax revenue cash cows for governments? What if feminism left women more vulnerable than ever by destroying the family? What if it's a cunning deception that has tricked women into abandoning their God-given identity to serve a new world order and one of the oldest belief systems in the world?
People deserve to know the whole story about the biggest social revolution of all time. A revolution that left no aspect of modern life unaffected and claims to be for the good of women everywhere. This must-listen book goes beyond the propaganda to deliver the fascinating truth.

written from a Christian, non-feminist standpoint
I was looking for something else, since I am both an advocate of feminism and the occult. But the author did her homework and delivered a solid presentation of her thoughts. I have to admit it was interesting to listen to and I am glad I bought it.

Fascinating alternative history of feminism.
Although I was familiar with a lot of the factual history here, it was great to hear this history of feminism that goes entirely against what is not just "mainstream" but has become axiomatic in current society. The original societal conditions in which feminist ideas were first voiced were quite different from what we are made to believe and providing this context is the main virtue of this essay. Feminism was imposed top-down by powerful activists, it was not a grass-roots liberation movement. And that was not by chance because women were strongly protected and in some ways privileged and their values and concerns were much more focussed on their children and families than we now understand. (There is more to be said about that than this book includes, see e.g. the essay of Martin van Creveld: The privileged sex, 2013).
The religious atmosphere around early feminism, with roots in spiritualism that reflected the search for a new grounding of moral beliefs as traditional religion frayed, is vigorously portrayed here. Early feminism clearly had deep religious undertones, which made it so difficult to have a true debate about these ideas, and that continues to this day.
The author's particular idea that orthodox christianity is qualitatively different from the western churches that embraced feminism much more strongly appear naive to me. The orthodox church had (and has) strong political ties to autocratic polities which more generally denied autonomy to most people, both male and female. Still, I did not find those parts of the book too distracting as this discourse helps uncover some of the deeper human traits that have been swept aside in the decades since feminism was imposed as an unquestionable framework. Taking a clear position is intellectually honest. One doesn't have to embrace these ideas to learn from the book.

Exquisitely researched and presented accounts of past-historic events.
The narrator was a poor choice performance-wise. It would have been better if Rachel Wilson hersepf would've read her book. Other than that, the book was great and extremely insightful.
