The information in this book is so important for everyone to know. Everything else becomes obsolete with such a scenario. It's shocking to know that this even is a possibility.
Well, written and read by the author herself and super captivating and educational.

The premise of the book is quite interesting. It combines information previously discussed in books like "command and control" and 'the dead hand" with recent inputs into a comprehensive and up to date scenario of nuclear escalation. If you are into this topic you won't be disappointed. What somewhat hampered the enjoyment of the book are two things :
- the narrator is kinda slow (had to rilun it at 1.2x) and monotone, almost like a text-to-speech software
- in many sections it is a bit repetitive where details or phrases are repeated multiple times within a few minutes.
- this also applies to lists etc. That come up multiple times, there a less verbatim reproduction would have helped a lot

Extrem gut recherchiert, erschreckend detailliert. Sollte in jedem Schulunterricht und jedem Politbüro der Welt als Pflichtlektüre gelten. Von der Autorin auch sehr packend und einwandfrei vorgelesen. Eine klare Empfehlung für eines der furchterregendsten Bücher, das je geschrieben wurde.

Das Buch ist in seinem sachlichen Tonfall entsetzlich in den beschriebenen Abläufen, die mit der unausweichlichen Konsequenz einer griechischen Tragödie auf das Ende der Menschheit hinauslaufen.

Keine Fiktion, das ist die Realität in der wir leben. Und am schlimmsten ist, dass es keinen realistischen Ausweg gibt, solange es Diktatoren wie Putin, die iranischen Ayatollah’s und komplett irre wie Nord Koreas Kim Jong Un gibt.

Und so postuliert das Buch einen Angriff Nordkoreas auf die USA. Denn rational gesehen sollte die Abschreckung funktionieren. Was aber, wenn ein Glied der Kette bricht und irrational handelt? Dann geht die Menschheit in nicht einmal einer Stunde global unter. Länger dauert der Atomkrieg nicht. Warum diese Logik unausweichlich ist, stellt das Buch mit fast unerträglicher Nüchternheit dar.

Stoff für Alpträume. Ich wünschte, ich hätte es nicht gelesen.
