Amazing book!
Definitely one of Christopher Paolini's best works. Murtagh is the most interesting protagonist I've ever seen. His and Thorn's character growth is so sweet. And the voice is amazing! 10/10, would recommend!

Well written and beautifully told
The way the story is written… is fantastic. Truly

good story.
paolini again proves he is an excellentstory teller that captures you. he also shows that is maturing and grows by writing a bit darker more complex characters.
only for the performance i would comment that since each character had a consistent mode of theatrics, it didnt really add to the different moods or the developements of the characters throughout the story. Developement and emotions was sacrificed for consistency and recognizability.

Best narrator and a very catching story
It is just amazing how the narrator can change his voice and by doing this he is giving birth to all those fascinating characters! Paolini is one of the best fantasy authors worldwide and with Murtagh he just proofed it again.
I am a great fan of Eragon so this continuing story of Murtagh caught my entire attention from the first minutes until the end.

Amazing return to Alagaësia
This might be my favourite read of the year. This book starts with a retelling of "The Fork" from Murtagh's point of view, which one might recognise if they read "The Fork, the Witch and the Worm" but puts it as the introduction to a larger story, and what a story it turned out in this book! Murtagh is an interesting character to follow along and to witness him and Thorn grow beyond some of their flaws or struggles is inspiring to see. There were many interesting things about this book, such as the focus (from the start) on wordless magic and the bits about the Urgalls, and I look forward to seeing how Paolini decides to continue the stories within Alagaësia. The narration was also handled nicely, and the music included at the start of the sections made an epic contribution to the atmosphere. I have yet to look at the pdf included, but curious as to what it holds regarding Paolini's worldbuilding. Would highly recommend to anyone who enjoyed the Inheritance Cycle.

Return to Alagaësia
As someone who absolutely loves the Eragon series, I couldn’t wait to dive into this book—and of course, I devoured it. It was so interesting to finally see the world through Murtagh’s perspective. His story brings a whole new depth and complexity to the larger narrative.
The world of Alagaësia remains just as magical and thrilling as I remembered, and Paolini’s storytelling is still rich and immersive. This book didn’t feel like a side story—it felt meaningful and full of emotion, growth, and reflection.
A must-read for anyone who loves the series and wants to see the world through a darker, more conflicted lens.

Finally a spin-off about my favourite character!
I couldn’t stop listening to ‘Murtagh’! This felt like a much needed redemption arc and Christopher Paolini did him justice. Murtag has always been my favourite character, even back then when the first Inheritance Cycle book came out! The audiobook was well done as well.
