Jason arrives at a kingdom in peril and he's surprised to discover that it's not his job to save it.
With the authorities fulfilling their responsibilities (for once), he looks forward to some quiet time to rest and recuperate.
The locals might not find ceaseless monster onslaughts and an interdimensional invasion relaxing, but Jason has had a rough few years. He's doing his best to let go of his anger.
While his team is caught up in duty, Jason has no shortage of people looking to interfere with his rest. Enemies—old and new—are circling, and even would-be allies are trouble. A princess finds him inconveniently alive, an ancient king arrives at his barbecue, and the local Church of Fertility are uncomfortably enthusiastic about including him in their practices. As his friends strive to reach him from the far side of the world, they are all frustrated by obstacles.
Jason is finally back in the world he longed for, but he is not the same man he was when he left. As the pressure on him mounts, allies and enemies alike will find that out the hard way.

Awesome story but rushed production
The story is great and can't wait to hear more, but this title is the first in the series where I would say that the production feels rushed. Nothing emersion breaking, but it hurts enjoyment. Cut sounds at the end of multiple sentences. Random sounds in the background (someone rummaging, a beep in chapter 65)
I hope this will disappear with updated versions and this will not become a quality problem in general.

Good character arc
I love how Jadon is ever changing and I, as a listener really feel that. It's also cool, that we see more into other characters.

it's about the development of Jasons personality
... and that makes it a great listen!
Jason is slowly becoming a more fleshed out character, and i like that in a litrpg.

Hope it will never end

Weakest book of the series so far
Mostly people talking about what a tragic hero Jason is, instead of him doing stuff. Little progress in the overall story.

Back on track
Very nice to have Jason back - for me it reads as good as the old story before book 5 and 6. Looking forward to nr 8

One of, if not the best, LitRPG series
The only two real problems I have with theese books are:
1) Way too short, no matter how long they are
2) We are already halfway through HWFwM

Ugh why is it over
... I.. book 9 isn't out yet and I'm very afraid to hit the end of book 8 soon bc I've been through 7 books in less than 2 weeks. This is my life now.
Ok so :D sometimes the repetition of ability explanations is a bit annoying.. but I imagine when reading it in text form it's perfectly viable
I really like the voice.. actor.. person? and I'm glad they chose a good one from the start and aren't changing things up. He's doing an awesome job.
I like the story, it's exciting and as I said I spent most of my days listening to it recently lol
I grew so fond of all the characters and it's always shaking me when someone dies. Maybe I'm just v emotional but for me the impact of the story is quite big :'D despite the.. how to say? kinda novice writing style sometimes (conversations sometimes feel a bit like a chat read out loud haha) it really doesn't matter with all the other boxes ticked off.
More please.

Another outstanding sequel, that's even better
I love that Jason is now back in Palemastus. I also love that there is now, again, an interesting political angle. For future sequels I would just love to see, that Jason, through increased personal might and general influence, gets more diplomatically active rather than always having to react.
Other than that, this is writing on a fantastic level. Also the length of this audiobook was great value; though the 18h still melted away like nothing. I just wished these books would be released way more frequently but alas, quality writing and narration takes time.
