No progression

I stopped listening to this audio book halfway through. Not because of the voice artist but because I felt like there was no progress story-wise. The description of the book says what happens in Hearthglen affects the world but you don't hear anything about that. The whole story of this book takes part in only that city and all the protagonist deals with is how to handle bathing. I was expecting more after the third book but sadly got disappointed.
