Ein guter Anfang..

...für einen neuen Autor. Die erdachte Welt hat Ähnlichkeit mit Defiance of the Fall, nur in kleinerem Ausmaß und dem einen oder anderen logischen Fehler.
Die Charaktere sind okay, doch teilweise kann ich die einzelnen Entscheidungen nicht nachvollziehen und es fehlt etwas Tiefgang. Daher der Tipp an den Autoren, weniger über das Thema Essen, Liebe, Schlaf und Beziehungen zwischen den Charakteren schreiben und etwas mehr beim Einzelnen in die Tiefe/Gedanken gehen. Außerdem fehlt mir noch etwas bessere Kommunikation bezüglich Möglichkeiten in der neuen Welt (siehe Tower und Bibliothek mit Drache), macht eine Entscheidung oder Entwicklung von Olivia unnötig. Doch sie weiß nichts von der Möglichkeit.
Warum gehen alle Top Level Kämpfer zur gleichen Zeit schlafen, wenn ein Krieg vor der Haustüre tobt?

Leider gibt es auch (wie oben erwähnt) einen logischen Fehler.... Die Menschen landen in der neuen Welt und überholen Kriegerclans und andere Einwohner in wenigen Tagen mit wenigen Level, obwohl diese schon Jahrzehnte oder gar länger dort leben, kämpfen und leveln? Das Thema hat mich etwas irritiert und ich hoffe, dass dies im 2. Buch überarbeitet wird.

Weil es viel schlechtere Bücher gibt, in denen die Autoren sehr dumme Charaktere in die Story einbinden, um aus weniger viel zu machen, vergebe ich hier 4 Sterne. Ich freue mich auf den 2. Teil.

Guter Auftakt

Der Sprecher ist gewöhnungsbedürftig und hat Probleme mit Frauenstimmen.
Das Buch selbst gehört m.E zu den Besseren in diesem Bereich. MC ist endlich einmal nicht dumm, die Erzählweise ist gut, obwohl ich den ständigen Wechsel der Perspektiven etwas nervig fand. Alles in Allem gerade noch 4 Sterne.

Dont listen if you want to have fun with other stu

I and a friend of mine binged the whole series in a few day to a week. The story is very interesting with a big focus on world building. The decisions and emotions of the characters make sense and Christin J Gilliland ist by far the best reader I have ever listened to. Very soothing, soft and deep voice, yet very good at emphasizes reading. Every character gets a unique spunding voice, even female ones. I can really recomend this one. :)

A solid story but with major flaws

Warning there are gonna be some spoilers in my review, not major ones but still.

First of all this seems to be the first work of the author which is really good for that stage of professional writing. Still there are some major inconsistencies which i just can't overlook.
This book contains multiple perspectives of which one of them stood out to me as nearly pointless. An Urgot abducted a human to bring back to their clan to show she found easy prey just to revise her decision later and safe him. After that nothing more of that urgot perspective heck not even that part got fully resolved it was just said she would dump him near some friendly aliens.

Speaking of loose ends, the MC rescues some aliens early on during the story but i got the feeling the author just forgot them afterwards since they never get mentioned again at all.

Also there are some inconsistencies for the story. First Issa did not know if there was any class above advanced level and later on when Morgan gets a epic class refinement option she is not surprised at all, heck when Morgan gets his class at level 10 it seemed like he was some kind of godsend with his class options. Also it seems not that hard to level up so why are the natives so god damn weak? Also this whole thing with energy affinity feels pointless to me. Sure Morgan is ahead but he fought like what ancient guardians of a tower, Monsters that defy the system and just all around strong beasts and he is only 2 levels ahead with a much greater affinity then everyone else?
The character progression also feels kind of wonky outside of Morgan we only get some development information on bronwyn but only very little. First of all Morgan seems to change archetype every few pages, first he is some kind of spearman then he is some type of energy draining warlock (which still makes me mad since he simply just stopped using that overpowered ability halfway through the book to focus on some stupid sword style) then some kind of tank with his lvl 10 class (The ability to protect others, which is his lvl 10 main ability btw. ,was used ONCE! in the entire book), some mage paladin? into some kind of duelist class. All this progression makes absolutely no sense at all and just feels like the author wasn't really sure about what class to chose so he just cycled through them.

On a positive note i liked the characters of the story most of them feel like they have real personality.

Like i wrote in the title this is a solid story but there are so many things that don't add up that it is hard to enjoy it to it's full extent.
If you did not already listen to defiance of the fall i would rather recommend that book since they are rather similar but defiance feels a lot more fleshed out and consistent.
Christian J. Gilliland did a great job narrating the book and the quality was good aswell.
Maybe the next book will bring some better character development and more belivable motives.
Right now i can still recommend this book since there are way worse out there.

Ok book there are way better ones out there but also way worse.
