Über diesen Titel
Alchemists sought to transform lead into gold. In the same way, says Tara Bennett-Goleman, we all have the natural ability to turn our moments of confusion and emotional pain into insightful clarity.
Emotional Alchemy maps the mind and shows how, according to recent advances in cognitive therapy, most of what troubles us falls into ten basic emotional patterns, including fear of abandonment, social exclusion (the feeling we don't belong), and vulnerability (the feeling that some catastrophe will occur). Through this program we can free ourselves and others, and the freedom to be more creative and alive.
This remarkable program also teaches the practice of mindfulness, an awareness that lets us see things as they truly are without distortion, or judgement, giving the most insightful explanation of how mindfulness can change not only our lives, but the very structure of our brains. Here is a beautifully rendered work full of Buddhist wisdom and stories of how people have used mindfulness to conquer their self-defeating habits. The result is a whole new way of approaching our relationships, work, and internal lives.

A book not only for those who try to enhance...
...their own emotional lives but also for those who try to help others with their problems.
Wow! She really has it all figured out. Tara Bennett-Goleman has written a book that can really help us define ourselves more clearly and empower us to remodel ourselves. She helps us realize all the emotional patterns and schemas we have built our (not only emotional) lives on and helps us understand others better and accept them more easily. And she does so in such a universal way! She covers SO many topics. It's truly amazing...
What makes her so competent at this is the fact that she has like studied every single view on these things from Tibetan Buddhism over Japanese Tea Mind to contemporary western sciences.
Though I feel like she often repeats herself I still think this was the best way to write this book because like this we get reminded of things we have kept doing wrong before over and over and feel a greater need to recondition our emotional lives. This makes us listen/read more carefully and start to take care of ourselves more thoroughly.
After I had finished this audiobook I immediately bought some copies of the actual written one and gave them to some of my closest friends because it really can explain and define all that I have ever been trying to 'teach' them when they had asked me for advice. And that is equanimity and composure. I hope they'll enjoy them just as much as I enjoyed the audio version. And I hope you'll enjoy yours. It's really worth a look! ^_^
