Eine berührende Geschichte, die nur durch Highsmiths Talent facettenreiche Charaktere zu erschaffen und trotz allem Raum für die Interpretationen des Lesers zu lassen, diesen Tiefgang erreicht, sofern man sich als Leser darauf einlässt. Ich habe Price of Salt vor Jahren als Buch gelesen, aber auch als Hörbuch durchaus zu empfehlen, nicht zuletzt durch die gute Sprecherin.

Knowing Patricia Highsmith as an author of thrillers I was very surprised by this, for the time rather unusual, novel. The story of the two very different women is written very well and can be enjoyed over and over again! Cassandra Campbell (the narrator) brings the characters to live with her great voice. Being British made it hard for me to imagine the characters American accents properly - another good reason to get the audiobook! I can only recommend it and hope that you will enjoy it as much as I did (and still do).

The story is nice but there could have been much more passion and emotion added to it. Therese must have felt so nervous and her emotions must have been so tumultuous but we get none of that. Carol on the other hand brushed Therese off the entire time and then wanted to be with her in the end but it didn't make much sense given that she seemed not to care very much before. The book was a bit bland for my liking but it had potential to be more.
