Wonderful way of narrating History
Coe is a great storyteller, who makes contemporary history coming alive. He is able to move effortlessly between the everyday struggles of his lovingly drawn characters and the social and political changes in England from the Second World War right to the beginning of te COVID pandemic. Over three generations he follows the story of families and friends whose lives are inextricably linked to the Bournville chocolate factory - the pièce de résistance of his novel. Witty, insightful and with a distinctly socially critical tone, the book is, above all, finest and bittersweet entertainment.

Sehr überzeugend
Liebevoll erzählte Zeitgeschichte pointiert vorgelesen, schöne intertextuelle Bezüge zu Coes früheren Romanen. Sehr überzeugend und kurzweilig.

Empfehlenswert
