No thank you

A story in wich the protagonist has seemingly no control over his own fate is not interesting since nothing happens for a reason, it just happens, no cause and effect.

I also hate the story writing gimmick of characters freezing up in fear or indecision in the worst moments so the author can rattle on about chaotic situations without having to write something useful to do for the character.
