Über diesen Titel
The world reclaims all things. Humanity shelters within their ever-dying cities. Mages and Archons create the only path forward.
Tala has returned to her new home, her mission successful, and her money-pouch temporarily refilled. Gold is still an ever present concern, but more pressing hurdles lie before her. Her inscriptions have been renewed and completed, granting her newfound power that she must learn to control, and she has a long list of tasks to complete before she can join the ranks of the powerful Archons.
As she delves deeper into the mysteries of the world, barely even hinted at by the Academy, Tala has discovered the secrets of the truly mighty: the creation of an Archon Star. The Mage isn't content to follow the standard path. She's determined to forge her Archon Star from an unconventional material, a gamble that could either lead to her triumph or her downfall.
Tala isn't one to shy away from a challenge, but only time will reveal if her daring plan will pay off when it is time to complete her Binding.

Steady downwards trend with no character growth or self-awareness
The first book was amazing. Great fun and I really enjoyed it. From the world building to the magic and even the characters.
But over the last two book I've become increasingly frustrated with the reading experience. Tala's character growth is none existent. Sure she gets stronger, and all that jazz, but she is inherently flawed the way she is written. That's because she is not learning from her mistakes, but because she doesn't seem to only introspect for a heartbeat and generally can't think for herself. She simply does and succeeds. This started with needlessly endangering those around her with gross negligence but at this point you can't tell me she doesn't do so intentionally. The halfhearted explanation of her being suicidal - but not really because she is Mary Sue and can't have any flaws - just doesn't make any sense.
What frustrates me the most, is that she always succeeds at every she does, but not through proper risk evaluation or cunning, but oh that was easy. And apparently that's stuff others struggle with endlessly on top of that.
I think I'm extra disappointed because the story started out so well.
The narration has been really good though.
