Über diesen Titel
All Vhalla wanted for her seventeenth birthday was a book.... What she got was the attention of a dark and fiery prince and a rare elemental magic.
After unknowingly saving the life of the crown prince with powers she's not supposed to have, Vhalla must make a choice: Embrace her sorcery and leave the quiet life she's known, or eradicate her magic entirely.
But the choice isn't hers alone. Powerful forces who want to use her magic for their own gain lurk in the shadows, and the only ally Vhalla may have is the cut-throat Crown Prince Aldrik. He's everything she's been taught to fear—a sorcerer and royalty—but beneath his harsh exterior is the heart of a tortured man she finds herself dangerously drawn to.
He might be the last person she ever wanted. But he's the one person she needs. And, with his training, she'll show the Empire what a quiet library girl is truly capable of.

These books are everything
I loved all of them. I cried, laughed, and got my heart broken many times. Therefore, I do not recommend listening in public unless you don't mind bursting into tears on a train. But seriously, they are the best. Amazing character development and awesome storyline. All books in one price - this is a must buy.

Amazing series, couldn't stop listening!
I enjoyed the authors novellas very much and the Air awakens series are just new in Germany, so I decided to go for it.
The first book isn't an easy start. Aldrick is just behaving ugly. But their relationship gets better further on and at some point he makes up for it. Vhalla is a character that grows, she has a great character development. And the series are at all about a maybe 3 years timeline so it doesn't feel like she's changing abruptly, just growing with her new life.
The author does not take pity on her characters and book 4 broke my heart more than once. Vhalla has to endure heavy things and the death of many important persons. The book also does not stop to involve bitter themes like suicide for example, so check if you are ready to endure all thematics. But I think it's exactly that what makes the series so good, that it doesn't just focus on a magic fantasy world but shows characters that have problems like real life people have and everybody is a individual.
At some points I didn't like the turn the author choosed to go with the story, but these where not pushing me to hard and I can accept the happenings as they are.
At all it's a fantastic series and I definitely gonna listen to the Vortex series and read the golden guard trilogy, too.

I loved the books but this audio is a masterpiece
I read all books in a row last year and also started the vortex vision. Not 5 stars in total because a few parts could have been a bit shorter , but with 5 books I guess that happens … but the audio book performance is incredible good. So many characters and just with different accents and how the voice was modified I new after seconds who is talking!! Great speaker! Will Listen to more audio books she was part of! It was a pleasure to listen

boring story with toxic relationship
The books are so bad. I couldn't stand the characters because they're very toxic, self-centered and behave like little children who think of themselves as funny and smart. This story doesn't offer anything new. It's not worth listening even though it's a 5 in 1 deal.
Air Awakens - 3 ☆
The first book is a basic chosen-one-story. It doesn't bring anything new to the table. It's like Cinderella + Avatar The Last Airbender. It's really like many other stories before but it's okay.
I didn't like that the main character is such a basic YA girl main character: She's nice, introverted, gentle, pure, does nothing ever wrong, a people-pleaser, not too daring, but wants to know more. And of course she's beautiful without knowing it until a man tells her.
She finds out that she has special magic but instead of writing how she learns to use it, the book is about showing how much luxury she gets and she doesn't even has to decide if she wants that life yet. Of course both princes show interest in her because ... she's not like other girls (I guess because she's so basic).
Everything's very unrealistic, especially the ending.
Fire Fallen - 2 ☆
Book 2 is giving school trip vibes and that's not good because they go to war. But instead it's a silly journey with a bit training and a kind of funfair. It's supposed to be serious but it feels too ridiculous.
There's a new character but the only reason she appears in this book is to create drama and the only reason for the drama is miscommunication. That, my friends, is bad writing.
We get a new love-triangle because the "romance" isn't interesting enough on its own I guess.
The only thrilling things happen in like the last 3 chapters (same with book 1) but the general plot was very boring.
Earth's End - 3 ☆
Not much happened in this book.
I've heard the most toxic sentence ever written: "Her existence didn't matter until [she met] him" ... like wow. And that's the relationship we're expected to ship ...
However the ending is good. I hate romanticization of toxic relationships but at least the author is aware of the toxicity. The ending feels like taking responsibility for that. It has some good messanges for YA readers (or at least not bad messanges like the first two books had).
Water's Wrath - 2 ☆
Book 4 was very predictable. We're going back to toxicity, which I absolutely hated. Aldrick is as toxic as always even though "he changed".
Many new things in this book feel like after-thoughts that the author wanted to include she had not thought about it earlier.
I don't like the way lgbt+ is represented here. We have one gay couple in this book and I find it strange how it's portrayed. I mean, sure, gay people are cute but would the main character think the same way about a straight couple? "Adorable" is not really a compliment people like to hear yk. It feels like the author only wrote about this couple to prove how "open-minded" and "nice" she is to include one gay couple (side-characters who add almost nothing to the plot) in her stories. It's not a real or good representation.
Crystal Crowned - 2 ☆
I hate the main character especially in this book because she's so self-centered and spoiled. Of course everyone loves, understands and forgives her because she's the main character. During the whole book she tries to be friends with a side-character and almost forces him. She can't accept it when people don't like her annd it's so annoying.
One big idea of this book feels very copied from HP when we think about that Harry's mind is connected to Voldemort's, therefore they must be personal enemies and he's the chosen one. It's very similar.
There's a death that only exists as a shock element (it's not important or necessary otherwise). This book has a lot of glorification of violence. The main character is so spoiled that she even thinks a person's death belongs to her, like her revenge is more important than peace. The "good ones" don't behave good in this war but it seems to be okay 'cause they're the main characters and the "good ones". They want peace so it's okay to kill hundrets of people.
It's very black white - good & evil. Nothing interesting, no big twist that leaves you thinking. This book is only about defeating the "evil" without creative points of view. The whole plot structure was boring.
I didn't like the ending 'cause it doesn't make a lot of sense. The book itself even says it makes no sense yet we're expected to ignore that plothole.
General thoughts:
I'd give this series 2☆, not 1, 'cause the writing style isn't bad, the narrator does a very good job and the stories had rounded plots whatsoever. I guess you COULD enjoy the books the same way you could enjoy Twilight.
But I really couldn't. I HATED the toxic relationship and how much it was glorified. I'm so done with this couple. I don't think Aldrick's possessive behavior is a good example for young readers.
In the beginning there're many unnecessary love-triangles because the author needed to show us how likable the main character is because she's the main character.
I didn't like most characters. Everytime they tried to be funny, it was just annoying. I could feel that the author tried too hard that the readers like the characters but I really couldn't care about them.
A good thing is Vhalla's development. She really changed from book 1 to 5 (even though that doesn't makes her even less likable to me ngl).
Maybe I'm petty but I was bothered that the names don't fit together: Vhalla sounds like a viking-name; Baldair sounds french; Elicia ... I don't know; Fritz is an old german name (my grandpa's name was Fritz); Aldrick sounds english-french because it's pronounced Ol-drick; Daniel is a basic name in our world and not in a high fantasy world; and Jax could be a viking too. Oh and there's one nation that for some reason has a french accent even though none of the other folks has one.
Yeah, in general this story could be written in not more than 2 books. It's nothing new, a basic chosen-one good vs evil story with a toxic relationship that's trying to be cute. I wouldn't recommend it.
