Bücher von E.H. darf man nur im Original lesen. Deutsche Übersetzungen zerstören die unvergleichliche Sprachstruktur, die er geprägt hat. Die Sinnlosigkeit von Kriegen vermittelt E.H. in diesem Werk so überzeugend und doch subtil. A Farewell to Arms ist eigentlich eine Liebesgeschichte und sie endet wie jedes Leben...

recently I biked from Munich to Venice and came through the landscape in which this drama occurred. curious to learn more about the incidents more than hundred years ago the story is giving a good insight into the historical facts from the protagonists view. may be the love story the side track is a bit exaggerated, however it does not spoil the story purpose. What is a bit of a nuisance is the pronunciation of French namesIt took me awhile to find out what village is meant by the place pronounced “Montro” , until I realised that Montrreux Is meant. I think, editor and director should be more accurate in preparation.
