First thing I fell in Love with
Was the narrator‘s voice. The sound of her voice is incredible disregarding of the story itself. Add to that the narrator knows what she is doing, skilled in telling the story without becoming flat or bland. She breathed life into the characters and the way she speaks the main character fits so incredibly well I am amazed.
Regarding the story, I have to say that I found the blurb misleading. There seems little question that the King is bad and the others are good. In the blurb, to me it read like it is a difficult question.
That being said, I personally found the story engaging. Always moving forward in a way that makes sense, no boring stretches as all. Great descriptions and the author managed to brush past travel sequences in a way that transmits the time passed without becoming boring or distracting. I also liked having a bisexual character with little attention drawn to that fact but also addressing it.
Furthermore, displaying the alcohol addiction was well done too. My only jarring downside is that after managing to step away from wine for months, the character binge drinks herself into oblivion one time and apparently, that has no effect whatsoever on her recuperation and is thoroughly glanced over. Seeing at how well I thought the addiction was added without substracting from the plot, that was such a big mistake and inconsistent that it was jarring. Still throughly enjoyed the story and listened to it within 3 days

Ein moralisch-grauer Charakter mit tiefen Wunden
Es war ein wunderbares Hörerlebnis! Wenn Ihr Dark-Fantasy, mit schwierigen/tiefgründigen Charakteren mögt, ist das euer Buch!
