I live in Adelaide, Australia and grew up just outside of Melbourne. I write thriller novels (mainly socio-political) drawing on contemporary themes and have a number of published short stories (more focused on human dilemmas). The corporate and political world inspires me with ‘what if’ questions that generate many plot ideas, especially our modern-day world. Although I've been scribbling story snippets and scenes all my life, in 2011 I got serious and completed a Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing at Adelaide University. My first degree, completed many years ago, is a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Chemistry), and I have a Graduate Diploma in education. Besides the casual jobs I did as a student, my long public service career began with clerical positions but eventually spanned roles as diverse as Management trainer, Team Facilitator, Statistician and Laboratory assistant. Writing had to wait until I had time, energy and brain-space, although, in the meantime, I gathered a wealth of ideas. Deadly Secrets is the culmination of many years writing. It is plot-driven but also has a strong focus on the central characters. My heroines and heroes are ordinary people being stretched by extraordinary issues. My main characters are not government agents, spies or professional advocates nor are they gun-toting police officers. They’re everyday people, in ordinary jobs, who become embroiled in a powerful conspiracy and need to make choices. I’ve had several short stories published, ‘A Present of Presence’ in the anthology ‘When Stars Will Shine’ and ‘Reunited’ (Jan 2020) and ‘Unforgivable’ (Oct 2019), were both in the Writers’ and Readers’ Magazine. Another appeared in the anthology 'Fledglings' (2016) Another of my passions is travelling, which includes writing a travel journal and taking copious photos (you'd be surprised at the number, I surprise myself even). I have photos featured on my website that link to scenes in Deadly Secrets. Even though much of the action is in Adelaide, Sydney and outback Australia, the beginning chapters are in Paris, Normandy, Nice and Barcelona. I enjoy live theatre, art and of course, reading. Most years you’ll find me hanging around the Adelaide Writers’ Week in March, listening to authors and adding to my overflowing to-be-read pile of books.
