Dawn Doig is the author of five children’s picture books including ‘And So, Ahmed Hears’ and ‘Petra Pencil Pines for Pizza.’ Her most recent release, 'What a Bath!' is illustrated with her cartoon character Big Shoe Bear which she created when she was 12 years old. Dawn was born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, but inherited ‘travelling DNA’ from her sailor father which has led to a life of work and travel around the globe. In 1988, she completed a B.Sc. in Linguistics through the University of Victoria, immediately followed by a M.Sc.in Human Communication Disorders through Dalhousie University in 1990. For 23 years, she provided audiological services to hearing-impaired individuals and their families in Canada, Kuwait, England and Saudi Arabia. In 2013, she made a career change into teaching and in 2015 completed a M.Ed in Teaching English as a Second Language through The College of New Jersey. Dawn and her husband of 30 years, Bruce, currently reside in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, where she is a primary English as an Additional Language teacher. In August 2018 they will be relocating to Yaounde, Cameroon, West Africa. Dawn gets her inspiration for her children’s books from her family, the children she has had the pleasure of working with, and her feline friends. Baking is a favourite, stress-relieving pastime and she self-published a baking cookbook 'Just Frickin' Bake It' to bring out the baker inside everyone. Dawn loves to travel with her hubby and recent escapades have included zip-lining through the rainforest in Thailand, hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and mountain-biking down Death Road in Bolivia. The Doigs have two children, Marisa and Colin, who both reside in Vancouver, Canada.
