A tired, hungry man once came to the Prophet Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for help. When there was no food at home, the Prophet asked if anyone could host the man for the night so that Allah would have mercy on them. An Ansari man volunteered, but he and his wife had only enough food for their children. They chose to put their children to bed hungry, giving all they had to their guest.

In a remarkable encounter, the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) purchased a horse from a Bedouin and invited him to follow so he could pay the price. As the Prophet walked briskly, the Bedouin lagged behind, unaware that others were trying to buy the horse from him. When the Bedouin called out to the Prophet, questioning the validity of their transaction, a dispute arose.

When the sun became dark one day, people wondered why its light had disappeared. The Prophet Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) quickly went to the masjid, where he led everyone in prayer until the sun shone brightly again. On that same day, the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had lost his beloved son, Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him), and some thought the eclipse was because of his passing.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him and his mother) was a devoted companion of the Prophet Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). One day, suffering from intense hunger, he lay on the ground, tying a stone to his belly. Despite attempts to seek help from Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), it was only the Prophet who recognized his need.

This story is authentic, told to us by the most noble of the messengers, Prophet Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and was collected by Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) in his Sahih.

The Prophet Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) once shared a story about the very last person to enter Jannah. This man will have barely escaped the Fire, stumbling along and grateful to be saved. When he finally arrives near Jannah, he will see a tree and beg Allah to bring him closer so he can enjoy its shade and drink its water. Though Allah knows the man will ask for more, He brings him to the tree. Then, a second, more beautiful tree appears, and the man again asks to come closer, making the same promise not to ask for anything else.
