Blue Knight

Roger's dreams of the heroic knights of old compel him to seek his own modern day destiny. Leaving his home and family in Nebraska, he ventures forth to seek his fate in Chicago. Good fortune brings him to a new home and new friends, but Roger is never easy on himself. He waits impatiently for his course to reveal itself. Only his dreams of Camelot bring him peace. Seeking to lose himself in this release, he looks for a book on knights in The Food for The Mind bookstore. He is drawn to an unusual looking volume, titled Knights by I. M. Merlin.

Roger, Blue Knight's alternate identity, finds his New York City visit very different than expected. He is there when Azzam from Amman, Jordan, succeeds in his 20-year search for a jinni in a lamp. The arrival of powerful marid, Kadar, makes life more interesting for everyone on Manhattan Island...and nervous, as well. Kadar's puzzling presence and difficult demands are a new challenge for Blue Knight.

Chicago's crime elements, such as Ivan, leader of the Russian mafia, hated Blue Knight's encroachment on their activities. Ivan's primary goal became elimination of the armored hero, forever.  

Blue Knight's confidence was building. He proved himself against major adversaries The Artiste and Ivan in Chicago and Kadar in New York City. There were some bumps along the way but they added to what the new superhero needed to know. Interference with activities of the petty crime elements was easy. However, there was an additional lesson, one not anticipated. Further, the related experience took place at a most unexpected time and location ... during a vacation in paradise ... Hawaii! Roger/Blue knight had no one to blame but himself for what happened. He caused the incident. The source of his vulnerability was his lack of realization that the very powers that rendered Blue Knight a superhero could trigger dangerous unforeseen situations. It was an important and necessary experience, but it greatly altered his time on the Big Island. Most important was how the matter was handled and in the end, its resolution. Roger/Blue Knight never turned away from a challenge and he behaved no differently during his sojourn to an island known for its tropical splendor and ... LAVA! 

The importance of Blue Knight's secret alternate identity relationship to Roger was clear. While Blue Knight\Roger never forgot this, they did not dwell on it. The connection had not been a problem and they had much else to occupy them. Furthermore, Blue Knight was fully protected by his plastinium armor, and they had been successful in hiding any link to Roger. Any effort to discover an alternate identity for Blue Knight would require careful study and significant guesswork. In the end, there could be no definite conclusion to justify an action. That might be viewed differently depending on the potential rewards. Tony Paisano was eager to restore the glory days of Al Capone in Chicago. He was convinced of the calling because he believed he was a descendant in the lineage of Capone. Tony was committed to the drastic actions that would be necessary. It was a course certain to present a confrontation with Blue Knight. Tony made every effort to be ready ... even to the extent of finding a way to bring the knight down. 

People have their own bents, and that includes Tony Capone and Roger from Nebraska. After what Tony did earlier in attempting to take down Blue Knight, one would think he would go away quietly. That he would unhappily accept the inevitability of his sentencing for attempted murder and subsequent incarceration. However, as Roger/Blue Knight discovers, that is not Tony's way. Roger is one who does not shy away from making important decisions. It's not surprising that he resolves to leave Rosie's Rooming House. The longer he is there, the greater is the likelihood of Rosie's being linked to Blue Knight.
