  • Starting Over in 2020: An Interview with Lindsay Graham
    Aug 23 2021
2020 was a tough year that hit everyone hard. From people losing their jobs and to even losing their own family members because of the virus. Day after day the virus just got worse and the entire world had to cope with it by locking themselves up at home, uncertain about the future.  But this uncertainty can also be a great space for opportunity and none understood that more than my good friend Lindsay Graham.  Lindsay was able to turn one of the worst years in the world, into one of her best years and while it may have been very difficult for her in the beginning, she was still able to work things out.  Today she will share with you the challenges she faced during the pandemic, how it has affected her life and how it even improved her personal growth. Oftentimes in life, it is in our most challenging moments where we grow the most, and in 2020 Lindsay experienced exactly this.    I hope Lindsay’s story of resilience helps you face the challenges that you are currently facing and instead of seeing them as obstacles, you start looking at these challenges as opportunities to grow. About Lindsay  Lindsay is a Senior Marketing Strategist for people with big visions who don't know where to start. Her tenacious curiosity paired with her humanitarian spirit has led her to support missions across the globe, from coordinating an award-winning multi-nation TV series about social justice to writing promos for the Czar of Noir on Turner Classic Movies. She knows how to pivot in uncertainty gracefully. She's led brand collaborations with AFI, Architectural Digest, Coca Cola, Disney, E! News, Elle, Entertainment Weekly, FOX Sports, HBO, IBM, John Hopkins University (SAIS), Microsoft, National Geographic, Safdie Architects, Showtime, Space Adventures, Ltd., Sprite Films, The Criterion Collection, The Hollywood Reporter, USA Today, and Vogue. And when she's not writing or producing, she can find her jumping on her mini-trampoline at midnight, enrolled in an online data analytics course, following @millenial.therapist, or rewatching Hart of Dixie as she organizes her hard drives. Episode Highlights  How Lindsay lost her job to the pandemic. What Lindsay did after she lost her job.  Where is Lindsay now? How the pandemic has affected Lindsay’s personal growth.  What Lindsay has learned from the pandemic.  How Lindsay handled her self-care. How has the podcast helped Lucie see resilience?  Quotes 2020 really taught me that it's the little things that we do for others in the community that profoundly affect the world. - Lindsay  When you face your greatest fear, by no volition of your own, sometimes it's not your choice, but life hands you something, it can be a priceless gift. - Lindsay Life isn't ever what we anticipate, but it gives us what we need to truly grow. - Lindsay

  • The Carnival Queen: An interview with my Grandmother Kathryn Turpin
    May 24 2021
For many of us, we are still at the early stages of our lives with so many more adventures to go on and memories to be made, but being so young and inexperienced we often wonder what to expect as we get older. In today’s episode, I would like to introduce you all to my grandmother, Kathryn Turpin, who is only 93 years young and also known as the “Carnival Queen”.  She has experienced almost everything life has to offer. From meeting her first love to starting her own family and running a carnival business.  For today she will share the story of her life and the thing’s she’s experienced in this world in the last 93 years she’s been around, as well as give some advice for us younger folks. I hope her story eases up those who are feeling anxious for their future and serves as a reminder that things always do get better. So tune in, relax and enjoy the show.  About Kathryn Kathryn Turpin was born on the Fairgrounds in Bethany, Missouri December 1927. The extended family was large with Sisters, Aunts, Uncles, cousins galore.  Many played a part in Kathryn’s life because they traveled together in the summertime on the family carnival, Kemp & Turpin United Shows.  Though it was a small family carnival, it went to towns in Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa where people looked forward to spending the money they had saved up all year long for the entertainment of the Ferris wheel, merry-go-round, scrambler, tubs of fun, along with a popcorn wagon that had the best-candied apples, sno-cones, and cotton candy.  Plus, there were games to play and teddy bears to be won!
