• Southern Baptist Pastor Abuse: David Pittman
    Jun 29 2022
Show Notes Survivor David Pittman was raped and assaulted repeatedly by his church's music pastor from ages 12 to 15 in the 80s. The abuser was Pastor Frankie Wiley, and it started during all-boy sleepovers. David reported the abuse to police two decades later, but the statute of limitations expired. He reported the abuse to church leaders, and they told him to keep quiet and that they would pray for him. Southern Baptists make up the largest protestant denomination in the United States with more than 3,370 Southern Baptist churches in Georgia alone. Nationwide, Southern Baptist churches have 14 million members nationwide. • Addiction: Iggy Pop
    Jun 29 2022
    Show Notes

Iggy Pop is the alter-ego created by musician Jim Osterberg. Iggy is mostly known for being the excentric and violent lead singer of the STOOGES and for the albums he recorded with David Bowie. He is also often referred to as the Father of Punk.

Iggy became famous not only for his new punk sound and his androgynous look but also for his antics on stage, which include cutting himself, rubbing himself with peanut butter, flashing the audience, humping various objects, and leaping into the audience.

But these antics hid a painful addiction to drugs that sabotaged his career and his life for years. He nearly died numerous times.

His music inspired David Bowe, Nirvana, The Clash, the Sex Pistols, the White Stripes, Nine-in-Nails, the Rollings Stones, Arrowsmith, and more.

  • Attempted Femicide: Bertilla
    Jun 22 2022
Show Notes Perhaps you remember seeing or hearing about the #ChallengeAccepted movement that launched in the Western World in July of 2020. It often took the form of women posting black and white photos of themselves on social media with the hashtag. Some of you may have shared such a post. For most people, it was simply a women's empowerment movement. #WomenSupporting Women However, the movement was meant to be so much more. It started during protests in Turkey following the femicide of Pinar Gültekin, a 27-year-old who was found dead on July 21 after being murdered by her ex-boyfriend. Pinar's death marked the 50th femicide to happen in Turkey in 2020 alone. The idea behind a woman sharing a black and white photo of herself is that she could be next. She could be the next victim of femicide, which means murdering someone because they are a woman. No woman is safe. The black and white photos represent how pictures of murdered victims of gender violence end up in black and white in newspapers. Femicide is a frightening misogynistic control weapon used against women by their partners and male relatives to keep them in life. A frightening example is the attempted femicide of a woman known as Bertilla, an alias, in Santa Cruz, Costa Rica. She barely survived after her boyfriend beat her with an ax. She is using an alias because her perpetrator is still free and she still fears for her life. Also... your car temperature gauge is meant to measure the temperature of your engine. • Motorcycle Accident: Aaron "Road Kill" Saxon
    Jun 15 2022
    Aaron "Road Kill" Saxon

Well it was just a matter of coincidence that Whitney met Aaron at Fisher's Brewery when Aaron approached her dog, Layla. This big bearded man had the softest and nicest approach to Layla, who is wary of males to begin with. Immediately Whitney saw his leathers and tattoos on the tops of his fingers spelling "ROAD KILL". Because Whitney has no filter and a lack of social skills, she immediately said, "Oh! You've got a story, I've gotta know about this tattoo." Well, thankfully Aaron is a nice guy and was willing to meet to tell his survivor story. Boy was it intense! We feel that his story was so compelling that we will be creating a Patreon Episode intervewing him exclusively where you can hear his first hand account of escaping death.

    Jun 8 2022
Mass Shooting Survivor: Maddy Wilford Mass shootings are becoming so common that we are becoming desensitized. But their lives will never be the same for the victims' family members and the survivors. When the news covers these mass shootings, they mention the number of people killed and injured. However, what does it truly mean to survive being shot with an AR-15? To illustrate the vast damage an AR-15 will cause to the human body, this episode covers the story of Maddy Willford. She survived the Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School shooting in Parkland, Florida on February 14, 2018. The shooter killed 14 students and 3 staff members and wounded 17 others. However, Maddy was the most critically wounded after being shot 4 times with an AR-15. She didn’t have a pulse when the first responders reached her.     Learn more about how the Parkland shooting happened.   Remember the 17 Parkland shooting victims.    20 million AR-15 weapons have been sold to Americans. Learn more about the mass shooting at the Church in Southerland Springs, Texas. Wounds from an AR-15 are significantly worse than those from handguns and rifles.
