  • Jaden Ivey - Detroit Pistons guard on his New Years Day injury and trusting God amidst the trials
    Jan 10 2025

    Jaden Ivey is in his third NBA season with the Detroit Pistons. He was selected fifth overall by Detroit in the 2022 NBA Draft and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2023.


    In 2024-25, Ivey was averaging a career-high 17 points per game in his first 30 games. On December 26, 2024, Ivey hit a game-winning 4-point play to help Detroit beat Sacramento 114-113. On January 1, 2025, Ivey suffered a broken fibula and had successful surgery on January 2 and is expected to miss the remainder of the NBA regular season.


    Today on the podcast, we talk to Jaden Ivey, just days after his injury about how his recovery is going and trusting God in the highs and lows of life. Ivey emphasizes that true fulfillment comes from a relationship with Jesus, not from worldly success, and he encourages others, no matter their circumstances, to share the love of Christ in their lives.

  • Jake Bates - Detroit Lions kicker on his incredible 2024 journey to the NFL

    Jake Bates is a kicker for the Detroit Lions in the NFL. He was undrafted out of the University of Arkansas in 2023 and signed with the Houston Texans before being released after in the preseason. In early 2024, he signed with the Michigan Panthers of the UFL and was selected to the All-UFL team before signing with the Lions in June.


    In Week 7 of the 2024 season, Bates was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after kicking the game-winning 44 yard field goal to help Detroit beat Minnesota. In Week 10, Bates kicked a 58-yard field goal against Houston to tie the game late and hit a 52-yard game-winning field goal to help the Lions to a win over the Texans.


    Today on the podcast, we talk to Jake Bates about his incredible journey from being a brick salesman to becoming a kicker for the Detroit Lions. He discusses the challenges he faced after being released by the Texans, the importance of prayer in his life and how he aims to glorify God through his actions, both on and off the field.
