• Rads, Dads and Grads
    Jun 11 2024

After a 10 month hiatus I'm back sharing some things I find rad (Y2K party's, the chiropractor etc.), the immense gratitude I have for an outstanding relationship with my dad, and exciting news as a recent graduate of People Pleasing.

  • Gracing Myself With Grace "...access[ing] the positive side..."
    Aug 25 2023

**Please note this was marked as E as I do say the F word once or twice. It is quiet and quick and otherwise a great episode discussing mistakes and failure**

I made colossal error and was cancelled because of it. In this episode I share a story that in this moment in time has me crushed. Tough lessons to learn never feel good. I share all the juicy details including my F up, the cancellation letter, and my hopeful reply. Somehow though, I'm still standing. Thanks for being here.

  • 7. Chasity - "I come in peace but I mean business."
    Mar 15 2023

Chasity and I go back to the very beginning of motherhood when we met at a park with our infant boys, who at the time were nothing but baby blobs of our hearts expanding beyond our bodies. At the time, those tiny humans were not yet able to sit up, or babble a "mamma."  Add in the fact our boys were born on the same day, and our families have shared nearly every pivotal moment in our boys lives with one another.

Beyond a close family friend and the mother of my son's best friend, she is a real estate broker and mortgage loan originator. She operates out of her home in the San Fernando Valley and after her family, she boldly puts her clients needs above everything else. She wants her clients to feel cared for in the same way anything or anyone else feels cared for in her life. When it comes to her business, Chasity guarantees the work she does will give you the highest chance at accomplishing what you want.  Whether you find a realtor, a new go-to YouTube Channel / Instagram Page for all you real estate market trends, or walk away feeling better about talking about your self today, I guarantee you will get something out of the episode! Thank you for showing up again, thank you for listening, thank you for being here!

    Enjoy!

  • Finding my way as I go and I'm not sorry
    Feb 27 2023

Join me on a bumpy yet always exciting ride for the latest episode of Sorry Less: Al anon confessions & Chex Mix problems, kids and their heart breaking habit of teaching their grown up's as they grow + a piece poetry written and performed by me, you're guaranteed a time...I didn't say a good one. Just a time

    Show Notes:

    Chex Mix Recipe

    • 1 stick butter (unsalted preferred, but if all you've got is salt, use about 2 teaspoons less of the overall seasoning below)
    • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    • 2 teaspoons seasoned salt, such as Lawry’s
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon celery salt
    • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
    • 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
    • 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
    • 1-2 cups bite-sized pretzel twists and/or sticks
    • 1-2 cups cheerios *
    • 1-2 cups nut of your choice *
    • 1-2 cups cheez it's *
    • 1-2 cups gardettos *

    * optional additions

add all cereal and mix additions to baking sheet and loosely mixing with hands | melt butter | measure out dry ingredients + Worcestershire sauce and mix in small bowl | add melted butter and whisk ingredients together and pour over dry mix | bake at 250º for 45-55 minutes (depending on how long you can wait), being sure to stir every 15 minutes | Allow 10 minutes to cool | E N J O Y !

    3 Tips for Extra Deliciousness:

    1. don't skimp on your seasonings (but also don't overdo it...you can always add more next time)

    2. to ensure butter mixture reaches all dry ingredients, start by pouring 1/2 onto dry mix, stirring then adding the other 1/2 of butter mixture and stirring again before adding to your oven

    3. lock it up! Or at least consider having someone you trust hide it so your hard earned snack can last you longer than a day

  • 5. Kristin - Part 1 - "Grant that I may not so much seek ... to be understood as to understand."
    Jan 13 2023
I had an instant connection upon meeting Kristin over the phone back in early 2016 (late 2015?). Our friendship began because of our children in that we met at a local mom's gathering. Unique to my relationship with Kristin at this time in my life though, despite our children being the reason we crossed paths, she was a friend outside of this - hello new-mom/goodbye old self/woman-with-child - universe, we both found ourselves completely enveloped in after having welcomed our boys. Even though the new motherhood journey was stunning and beautiful, it was clear to both of us that who we were before children was on the edge of disappearing forever. The stark contrast of this new reality versus that of our recent pasts, had us bonding as human grownups; just people notwithstanding the void of baby development discussions.  Our relationship has evolved over half a decade of deep and important topics.  A huge part of  being able to have these types of important conversations is the freedom and trust we share with another.  In Part 1 - You will learn a lot about who Kristin is at her core as well as the version of herself which she is pushing out into the world, mostly out of necessity. Her gentle speaking voice plus the determination she carries to change her current circumstance is a juxtaposition I feel empowered witnessing. Soft, kind, tough, vulnerable, fierce  Ye but a few words I would use to describe her.  Thank you so much for being here and please enjoy listening  Show Notes: Kristin is a singer songwriter, performer, music teacher, and her newest endeavor, Podcaster. She is also navigating the steps of divorce and single parenting/co-parenting but half the time || Please find and support Kristin's podcast, The Sharing Project - here she encourages difficult conversations through openly sharing with an open heart Show Quote || "Grant that I may not so much seek...to be understood as to understand." - an excerpt from the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi Books Mentioned || Good Inside  by Dr.  Becky Kennedy Don't forget to like and follow the show for show updates! If you enjoy what I'm doing (or think you may someday) and you want to support me, please leave me a 5 star review or consider donating to my efforts to launch a podcast. Several of you have asked how to do this, more information to come. Every penny helps!  I am always open to honest yet always, kind (cause we fragile mmmk?) feedback.

  • I had feelings then realized I was wrong...And other aspects of being human
    Dec 17 2022

To feel good is to bare my soul. I never was any good at holding them in but these days it  feels more like a process:

Have the feeling, react to the feeling, reflect on the scenario that brought you here in the first place, accept accountability where applicable, then (and only then) return to your counterpart, discuss my point of view, listen to theirs, conclude, move forward.

I am proud of myself for I am the baddest of bad asses...don't you agree? I mean about yourself?

  • 3. Mona - "Be Kind Whenever Possible. It Is Always Possible."
    Nov 28 2022

Ever since I decided to start a podcast, I knew Mona would be a first guest. We met when our baby boys were just 3 and 6 months old. Then it was drooling, rolling and cooing and now nearing 8 years old - between their social calendars, sports, music and school, these boys friendship has not only grown, but evolved into family; not dissimilar from their momma’s. Mona has offered guidance to me across many areas of life including business, family, accountability and personal growth to name but a few and you better believe I have graciously lapped up every drop of it. Occasionally I even get to bestow my own knowledge onto her too, which is always super fun and exciting. I am thrilled to share a piece of this human with you. Learn about Mona and the gifts she has for the world; and listen in as I even discover some of the “why” behind her valiant, kind and exemplary leader and mentorship.

Everyone has a story. This is part of Mona’s. Not just about where she’s going or where she has been - but how she chooses to get there, through kindness and compassion.

    Thanks for being here,

    Em
