NICHING FREE CHALLENGE DAY 5/5: YOUR MARKETING STRATEGY

Hi everyone and welcome back to the Liberated Trauma Therapists Club! This episode was taken from a live video that appeared on the Liberated EMDR Therapists Club Facebook page as part of day 5/5 of the free 5-day niching challenge. Excuse my coughing, my kids brought home yet another terrible virus! Had to cut the live video short before a coughing fit took over 😅

Homework: Explore what your body has to say when bringing up the idea of niching down and charging premium fees inside a cash-pay solo private practice.

You might just be experiencing a disconnect between the information your logical brain is storing (that niching down and charging the fee you need to charge to sustain your needs are possible because the steps to get there are available to you and many other therapists have already done so) and what your subconscious mind + body are holding (I'm not good enough, I don't know enough, who do I think I am).

What is your body trying to save you from?

    • The discomfort of being seen and known in your community as the therapist who charges more than $100/session, doesn't take insurance and has the AUDACITY to only work with a certain population?
    • The discomfort of knowing you can end up making more money than your parents ever did by not overworking yourself?

Spoiler: you can work through these.

  • Ep 7 - You Need an Elevator Pitch as an EMDR Therapist in Private Practice
    Dec 3 2024

Hello and welcome to this episode of the Liberated Trauma Therapists Club where we dive into day 2 of the 5 day free niching challenge! Today is all about creating an elevator pitch.

In this episode (that was a Facebook live video inside the Liberated EMDR Therapists Club), I suggest you practice writing your elevator pitch to 1. gain clarity, 2. practice explaining what you do, 3. write copy more effectively.

Examples of what I DON'T recommend because they lack clarity:

    1. I help individuals from all walks of life after childhood trauma.
    2. I help folks with anxiety find their calm.
    3. I help women in their 40s feel good enough.

    My corrections:

    1. I help [insert population] struggling with [insert] so they can [insert outcome].
    2. I help pro athletes gain impulse control so they can feel proud of their performance.
    3. I help high achieving women in their 40s feel good enough at work and at home.

  • Ep 6 - How to Niche Down as an EMDR Therapist
    Dec 2 2024

Welcome back to The Liberated Trauma Therapists Club! In this episode, I’m introducing a free 5-day mini niching challenge I’m hosting this week in my Facebook group, the Liberated EMDR Therapists Club. If you’ve ever wondered how to position yourself as a premium fee, cash-pay therapist, this challenge is for you!

    We’ll dive into:

💡 The two ways EMDR therapists can niche down.

💡 Why niching is essential for your messaging and attracting high-quality clients.

💡 The method I personally love, which connects deeply with your sense of purpose and passion.

In today’s episode, I’ll walk you through examples from my own journey in private practice—like how I became known as the go-to therapist for medical trauma in children, and later for postpartum moms with birth trauma. I’ll also share why I believe niching down to serve a former version of yourself can lead to a more impactful and fulfilling practice.

    Your Homework for Day 1:

    Explore your niching options:

1️⃣ Reflect on your current clinical patterns, extra training, and caseload.

2️⃣ Consider what it might mean to serve a former version of yourself.

Join the Facebook group for personalized coaching and feedback as you work through the assignments this week.

I’ll see you tomorrow for Day 2 of the challenge. Until then, have fun with the homework, and remember—your niche doesn’t have to be set in stone!

🎧 Tune in to learn, grow, and start building the private practice of your dreams.

  • Ep 4 - Paying for More Clinical Trainings Won’t Help Your EMDR Business
    Nov 18 2024

Episode 4: Paying for More Clinical Trainings Won’t Help Your EMDR Business

Welcome to Episode 4 of the Liberated Trauma Therapists Club! In this episode, I’m busting one of the biggest myths in the therapy world: the idea that if we keep adding more clinical trainings, clients will come flooding in. Like many of you, I’ve invested heavily in training, thinking it would grow my business. But I discovered the hard way that clinical knowledge alone doesn’t attract premium-fee clients—marketing does.

I’m sharing how my cash flow crisis pushed me to re-evaluate where I was spending my money and why I decided to focus on regular EMDR consultation instead of endless trainings. This shift not only improved my practice but also made my business sustainable. If you’re feeling burnt out or worried about finances despite all your training, this episode is for you.

    Key Takeaways

    • Why clinical training alone won’t drive your business growth.
    • How regular EMDR consultation helped me hone my skills more effectively.
    • The power of marketing and visibility in building a premium-fee private practice.

  • Ep 3 - How Burnout Sneaks Up on Trauma Therapists in Private Practice
    Nov 11 2024

Welcome to the third episode of the Liberated Trauma Therapists Club podcast! Today, I’m diving into something I’ve personally experienced and know so many of you have too—burnout. And I’m not just talking about the obvious exhaustion. I’m talking about the sneaky ways burnout creeps in, especially when you're a trauma therapist running your own private practice. You might think that working for yourself will save you from burnout, but that's where things can get tricky.

In this episode, I’m sharing my story about transitioning from working as a hospital social worker during the height of the pandemic to opening my own private practice. I’ll talk about how I went from feeling invincible to realizing that burnout was creeping in—even when I was my own boss. Spoiler alert: raising my fees, niching down, and truly understanding what I wanted my life to look like were game-changers in breaking the burnout cycle.

If you’re feeling overworked, understimulated, or like you’re pouring from an empty cup, this episode is for you. I’ll take you through how I shifted my practice to align with my values, family, and needs while still providing high-quality care to my clients.

    Key takeaways:

    • How to recognize the sneaky ways burnout can hit you in private practice.
    • Why niching down and setting fees that serve your needs are crucial to prevent burnout.
    • The importance of designing your practice around your life, not the other way around.
