Salt Lake County Mayor Debate The Salt Lake County Mayor’s seat is up for election in November and last night, the two candidates debated on some of the topics that have been worrying Salt Lake residents, namely: County spending and funding, homelessness, and the housing market. Leah and Greg discuss the same issues and why Salt Lake County residents need to pay attention. Dock Workers come to an agreement The port strike is over after dock workers were able to come to an agreement on Thursday. The agreement doesn’t solve all of the disagreements between the two sides, but it’s a good starting point. Dave Davis, President of the Utah Retail Merchants Association, joins the show to discuss how the negotiations went down and how just a 4-day strike could have an impact for months after. Utah man arrested in relation to Jan. 6 A Utah man and his brother from Iowa have been arrested on suspicion of assaulting law enforcement, among other charges, related to the breach of the US capitol on Jan. 6th. Leah and Greg discuss why this prosecution is happening almost 4 years after the event, and how this is a bad example of how to react to a presidential election’s results. Previewing a KSL NewsRadio special: Condemned to Die It’s both a sensitive – and an important – topic: the death penalty. It’s been all over the news recently due to the state’s execution of Taberon Honie in August. This Saturday, KSL NewsRadio will air a special hour of Condemned to Die: Examining the death penalty through a lens of faith. Co-host of the special, KSL Legal Analyst Greg Skordas gives us a preview of this radio special. There are dozens of other races that will be decided that may shape Utah over the next few years. KSL at Night host, Taylor Morgan, joins the show to talk about which races to pay attention to, and which races might be closer than they seem. Election security and integrity at the forefront of this year’s election A letter was intercepted by the FBI en route to Lt. Governor Diedre Henderson’s office two weeks ago. Similar packages delivered to election offices across the country were all signed “United States Traitor Elimination Army.” Henderson’s office is in charge of Utah’s elections and she has tried to address concerns about election security and she emphasized the safety of election workers. It’s safe to say that people are concerned about the way elections are being handled all over the country. Utah Election Rundown Utahns who are already registered to vote may be receiving their ballots as early as October 15th and a month from tomorrow is election day.
