Diddy Did It! A looming downfall of an entertainment mogul

“Diddy Did It” is a splendid title for a documentary if you are planning on doing one focusing on his nerve-racking allegations (LOL).

Sean Diddy Combs is in the limelight, but this time around, for a terrible cause. The entertainment mogul is at the breach of losing all he has worked for this past few years. Why is that eminent? On the 6th episode of Hot Topics Podcast, I will be diving into Diddy’s allegations from November 2023 until the moment of this piece.

A timeline of Diddy’s allegations and lawsuits against since November 2023

·The rapper first made headlines in November 2023 when Cassie accused him of rape, abuse, and human trafficking during their 10-year relationship. The lawsuit was, however, settled out of court one day after it was filed.

·Shortly after his case with Cassie, Diddy was accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit filed in the Manhattan Supreme Court. A woman named Joi Dickerson-Neal accused Diddy of drugging and raping her when she was a college student at Syracuse University in 1991.

·A third woman, on the same day, accused the rapper of sexual assault. The lady alleged that Diddy and singer-songwriter Aaron Hall took turns raping her and a friend in New York City more than 30 years ago.

·In December 2023, Diddy was accused of sexual assault by a fourth victim. A woman accused Diddy, Harve Pierre, the former Bad Boy Entertainment president, and a third individual of sex trafficking and gang rape when she was 17.

·On February 26, Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, a former producer and videographer for Diddy, filed a lawsuit alleging that the rapper sexually harassed and drugged him.

·The latest was filed on May 21, 2024, by McKinney. The former model sued Diddy for sexual assault allegedly occurring back in 2003. According to court documents, the incident took place when the model was invited to Diddy’s NYC studio, where he and his colleagues were drinking and smoking joints. She went on to accuse Combs of plying her with alcohol, after which he allegedly took her to the bathroom and forced her to perform oral sex on him despite her resistance.

P.S - There would be a part 2 of this episode. Cheers.

Why Nigerian artists should boycott the GRAMMYs

Hi, Hot Topics Lovers; In this episode, I shared my opinion based on the CEO and recording Academy statements on how GRAMMYs pick their winners. I also shared my reasons for why Nigerian artists should boycott the GRAMMYs and why Nigerians should focus on creating and restructuring their awards.

The 66th GRAMMYs happened at the Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles, on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

As expected, GRAMMYs came with a lot of surprises and awkwardness, with eight Nigerian artists—Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, Olamide, Ayra Starr, Ckay, Fireboy DML, and Tems—all losing out on their combined ten nominations across different award categories.

Speaking on how GRAMMYs winners are picked, the Recording Academy CEO said, Grammy Awards are "won" purely based on the viewpoints of the board members of the Recording Academy, which could sometimes be "subjective.” He added that these voters do not care about a singer’s huge sales, streams, and fan base but pick winners purely based on the “quality of their art.”
