  • [POD] 7 Lessons Learned From Collecting Cards in 2024! - Ep. 2.02
    Jan 21 2025

Each Happy Hobby Sports Card Newsletter For Collectors has a handful of great sports card subjects, helping sports card collectors working with limited budgets!

Happy Hobbyist Patrick Imhoff takes the wheel for this week’s newsletter, sharing all the smart decisions he’s planning to make with his sports card collection in 2025 based on what happened in 2024.

Specifically, Patrick shares his takes on collecting prospect cards and when to buy rookie cards. He also shares his opinions on “breaking,” as well as buying great single cards over hobby boxes.

My favorite lesson that he shared was about how he targets cards on eBay using both Auctions and Buy It Now cards that have Best Offers. It’s a brilliant strategy!

Patrick thinks hockey is pucktastic! (My word, not his.) He shared a pretty awesome baseball/hockey card trivia question from the junk wax era that blew my mind!

Finally, Patrick also loves his Pittsburgh Penguins, and this week’s “Cards That Make Us Happy,” really makes Patrick happy because it’s Super Mario’s rookie card!

  • [POD] 6 Totally Rad Tips For Buying '80s Baseball Wax Packs! - Ep. 1.40
    Dec 24 2024

Each Happy Hobby Sports Card Newsletter For Collectors has a handful of great sports card subjects, helping sports card collectors working with limited budgets!

Many of the baseball card collectors on our YouTube channel and in our newsletter chat are among the group I call, “The Renewed Collectors.” We were all former card collectors when we were kids in the ‘70, ‘80s and ‘90s, then we stopped for a decade or two, and now we’re picking it back up because it brings us back fond memories!

Scott Hedrick, one of our favorite Happy Hobbyists, loves to buy old wax packs and boxes off of sites like BBCExchange.com and DACardWorld.com.

For collectors looking to dip their toes into the wax pack pool, Scott shared six great tips on buying wax packs and boxes that should improve your chances on getting good cards without spending too much money.

We also share another awesome sports card trivia question, in which you could win a free baseball card, and Patrick Imhoff gives us another suggestion we hope Fanatics will listen to in 2026.

Finally, I look back almost 70 years at one of the coolest rookie cards in history, from 1948 Leaf, with our “Cards That Make Us Happy,” section.

  • [POD] Best Subset Ever!?! 1976 Topps All-Time All-Stars! - Ep. 1.39
    Dec 17 2024

Each “Happy Hobby Sports Card Podcast” pack tries to help sports card collectors working with limited budgets – like me!

Nearly 50 years ago, Topps celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Major League Baseball by producing one of the coolest base card subsets in baseball card history: 1976 Topps All-Time All-Stars!

They named the best player from every position, creating an All-Star team we’d all love to see take the field at once.

While it would have been awesome to see both an American and National League listed, just so we could argue about who would win, it was still great to see all these superstar legends!

From Babe Ruth to Ty Cobb, from Honus Wagner to Ted Williams, from Walter Johnson to Lou Gehrig, this was a subset for the ages!

We also share another great baseball card trivia question, for those looking to win a great card!

And Patrick Imhoff shares two suggestions for Fanatics, with his “If I Became CEO of Fanatics” bullet list!
