Significant changes were made to CPT's evaluation and management codes for 2023! The method of selecting codes has completely changed--from using the key components (history, examination, and medical decision making) to using only time and medical decision making.

These changes may seem overwhelming at first, but once you care familiar with them, selecting a code will be easier.

In episode 1, I talked about the changes to the key components. In this episode, I will talk about changes in  specific sections of E/M codes—inpatient and observations services, consultations, emergency department, nursing facilities, home or residence, and prolonged services codes.
