  • The Corner Connection - How We Are Building a Supportive Network for Caregivers
    Jan 18 2025

In this episode, we discussed the unique challenges that caregivers face and the importance of building a supportive community around them. I believe that by coming together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who give so much of themselves to care for others.

I'm especially excited to announce our 'Caregivers Connection' gathering happening on January 22nd at 6:30 PM at The Sistah Shop in Atlantic Station, Atlanta. This event follows our powerful conversations with Jessica Guthrie, who shared her journey of caring for her mom, Miss Constance. We're bringing together caregivers from all walks of life – whether you're caring for an elderly parent, a sick child, or someone recovering from an accident.

Y'all know my heart is always with "the least of thee," and this event embodies that spirit completely. We're not just talking about support; we're creating a space where caregivers can connect, share their stories, and find strength in community. And with MLK Day approaching, what better time to come together and support those who give so much of themselves to others?

If you're in the Atlanta area, I personally invite you to join us. Can't make it? You can still support by sending flowers or treats to The Sistah Shop. This is more than just an event – it's the beginning of a movement to ensure no caregiver walks their journey alone. Remember, when we support caregivers, we lift up entire families and communities.

  • When My Sistah Wins We All Win - ft Jessica Guthrie 'Navigating the Challenges of Caregiving'
    Jan 15 2025

In today's episode, I had the incredible honor of sitting down with Jessica Guthrie owner of Career & Caregiving Collide, a remarkable woman who left her successful career as an education executive to become a full-time caregiver for her mother who's living with Alzheimer's disease for over a decade. Jessica's story is one of resilience, love, and the deep connections that bind families together. This conversation touched my heart in ways I can't even express.

Y'all know this topic is personal to me, having seen Alzheimer's impact my own family members. Jessica shares her experiences growing up with a strong, independent mother and how that shaped her into the person she is today. We discuss the challenges she faced as a long-distance caregiver and the difficult decision to move back to Virginia to provide the support her mother needs. She gives us a raw inside look and honest insights about what it really means to care for a parent with Alzheimer's disease. Her story of sacrifice, love, and resilience will move you to tears and inspire you to action.

What makes this episode special is how Jessica breaks down the realities of Alzheimer's care in our community, offering practical advice while challenging common misconceptions. She shares beautiful moments about her mother, Miss Constance, and how they maintain joy and dignity throughout this journey. • Motivational Monday - Breaking Down Walls & Extending An Olive Branch To Start The Year
    Jan 14 2025

In this episode, I'm getting real about the importance of reaching out to those people in our lives we've lost touch with. You know who I'm talking about – those family members, old coworkers, classmates, and friends who we keep meaning to contact but never do. With everything happening in our world right now, from the devastating fires in California to the tragedy in New Orleans, it's a stark reminder that tomorrow isn't promised to any of us.

I'm challenging each one of you to join me in what I call the "Two-Week Connection Challenge." It's simple but powerful – reach out to someone you've been meaning to contact. Just a simple text showing you care could make all the difference. And yes, I'm taking this journey with you, fam. I'm not just talking the talk; I'm walking the walk.

This episode hits different because it's not just about motivation – it's a CALL TO ACTION. I share personal insights about my own relationships, including conversations with my college-aged son about staying connected. Whether you're dealing with strained relationships or just lost touch over time, this episode will give you the push you need to make that first move.
