  • How Edge Computing Enhances User Experience and Network Efficiency?
    Oct 27 2024

    Episode 10 -

In this episode, we break down the game-changing concept of Edge Computing and explore how it’s reshaping connectivity. Instead of relying on centralised cloud servers located far away, Edge Computing brings essential services closer to where they’re actually needed—right near the serving Base Station. By reducing latency and improving network efficiency, this technology is transforming everything from video streaming at live sports events to augmented reality in museums, corporate network access, and even vehicle-to-infrastructure communication.

    We’ll cover:

    • What Edge Computing Is: The basics of how Edge Computing enables faster, localised services.
    • The Key Benefits: How lower latency and reduced data traffic improve end-user experience and network efficiency.
    • How It Works: An overview of the infrastructure needed to host services closer to users.
    • Real-Life Applications: From real-time sports streaming and AR in museums to local break-out corporate networks and smarter highways, we dive into how Edge Computing enhances everyday experiences.

Whether you’re a tech enthusiast or simply curious about the future of connectivity, tune in to discover how Edge Computing is bringing faster, more responsive services closer to you.

  • How Network Slicing Enables Multiple Services independently?
    Oct 20 2024

    Episode 9: Network Slicing

Network slicing is a key feature of 5G that allows for the creation of multiple virtual networks within a single physical 5G infrastructure, each customised for specific use cases. This flexibility makes 5G adaptable to different industries and applications.

Network Slicing refers to the selection and allocation of network resources to suit the requirements of a specific service.

For instance, an eMBB user is likely to require high throughputs so that user should be allocated network resources which support high throughputs. In contrast, a URLLC user is likely to require low latency so that user should be allocated network resources which support low latency. Lastly, Massive IoT (mMTC) caters to smart cities with numerous connected devices.

Learn how these slices cater to specific use cases, from autonomous cars to smart city sensors, without compromising speed, latency, or reliability.

But how does it all work technically? We break down into the key components like gNodeB, Central Unit, and Distributed Unit, and explore how the E1 and F1 interfaces facilitate multiple slices.

Additionally, we examine the role of PDU sessions and the significance of Network Slice Selection Assistance Information (NSSAI) in identifying and connecting to the right network slice.
