  • Abominable Autumn: Pretty Hate Machine
    Oct 5 2024

It's that famous month: the one with Halloween in it. If you can find a name that doesn't include spooky (too obvious), haunted (ghosts are likely fake) or spoopy (the Hague awaits you) than we would love to hear it. Anyways the album is Pretty Hate Machine and per Lucas, we Pretty Much Hate Mixing Chris (who is too quiet and therefore we demand you pretend he is a ghost, haunting this episode.)

Also up for the afterlife is: Caribou's secret hit turns years old, and Chris goes absolutely nutmode w/r/t list documentation. If I was a paper demon I'd bury him in it in an ironic punishment.

  • Sequel September: Centipede Hz
    Sep 28 2024

Chris absolutely should have been forced to write this as the thinking man simply cannot be thinking of Centipede Hz, Animal Collective's follow-up to Merriweather Post Pavilion. I am contacting the dictionary pavilion should be spelled with two Ls, that's crazy.

Also up for discussion: TayTay enters another fraught celebrity deathmatch, Katy Perry's album gets rave reviews, and the concept of Evil turns 20. Its all so good it hz.

  • Sequel September: Burst Apart
    Sep 21 2024

This week one of the hosts is totally absent and you have to assume it only made the pod better as the twost remaining lads discuss the Antler's underrated Burst Apart. Woe be to the man who has to follow up Hospice and yet here we are.

Also up for discussion: the P in P Diddy is for prison (sorry for making light of horrendous crimes) and the P in for Katy P is for Perry.

  • Sequel September: Bon Iver's Name is Justin
    Sep 14 2024

TONIGHT THIS WEEK TONIGHT: We have another hot guest, Brian, and he is willing to stretch the limits of Sequel September to include side projects (the sequels of the heart) for a discussion of everything Bon Iver except the albums he did under that name.

Also up for discussion: The song of the summer must be decided by the Supreme Court who must be dismantled, four lads enter the Shouting Over Each Other Nation, and Mr. Monkey Wrench's wrench is speculated upon.

  • Sequel September: At Mount Zoomer
    Sep 7 2024

Its Sequel September and you know what that means-- or at least I hope you know what that means because it's difficult to explain and we haven't really nailed it down yet. Regardless, we kick it off with a totally apropos choice, Wolf Parade's second (sequel) album, At Mount Zoomer.

Also up for zooming: Lana Del Ray loves some sort of gator-blooded hoodlum and we unpack the drama amidst the lies, and Chris sees a certain musician upwards of 6 times in NYC.

  • Hot August Bites: Comfort Food: The Life Pursuit -- Featuring Leanne
    Aug 31 2024

NEWSFLASH: It turns out all we needed to make this music podcast work was to have someone who could talk about music on it-- we cannot normally do that but luckily we had a blessed savior this week with our wonderful guest Leanne [OTHER IDENTIFYING INFORMATION REDACTED] as we discuss her comfort food album: The Life Pursuit by Belle and Sebastian. No spoilers but we three lads were not prepared for this choice and we are sorry that she's so much better than us at this.

Also up for discussion: A chat about James Blunt, which is beautiful (it's true) and also this does count about food and I'll believe that until there's a new gospel that says it ain't.

  • Hot August Bites: Donuts
    Aug 24 2024

TONIGHT THIS WEEK TONIGHT we take a somber moment to apologize to you, the listener: we got too lost in the sauce at the zoo and could not keep this episode on the rails as we discuss J Dilla's classic record, Donuts.

Also up for discussion: Getting slurped at the Zoo, Ke$ha and Pitbull must remain friends or I will commit atrocities, and the corniest movie that captured our exact demographic and style turns a certain age. Guess what it is and suffer!

  • Hot August Bites: Salad Days
    Aug 17 2024

Hot August Bites continues with what is likely the least hot food there is: salad. Ice cream is not a food that's a desert. Anyways for this enterprising entre we three lads explore Mac DeMarco's 2014 slacksterpiece, Salad Days. Per Wikipedia Mac calls his genre "jizz jazz" which we do not say on the pod or ever again I am buying the flashing thing from Men In Black.

Also up for discussion: We mark 20 years since the most famous toilet/bridge disaster, pants cannot be bought in Joe Brandon's America, and Doug the cartoon forces us to make an offensive jingle.
