I’ve listened to this twice now and started the suggested program two and a half weeks ago – and it’s tough! Really, really tough! But a few days ago I’ve noticed my sleep getting a little deeper and waking up a little less frequently. The last two nights: deep, uninterrupted sleep!

Which is amazing, because around 5 years ago I started to become panicky when sleeping in the same bed as others. That was not only annoying but also quite limiting because I was then avoiding those situations. But other than that my life was pretty okay, I slept in my quiet and peaceful bed and just avoided sleeping somewhere else.

Now, having moved in with my boyfriend 3 months ago (in the hope this issue would somehow resolve itself) this issue started to become a real issue. When we went into bed at the same time I couldn’t fall asleep. When I went into bed first I fell asleep but woke either when he entered the bedroom or when he moved in bed (which was frequently) or snored or anything. And each time I woke my heart rate shot up and stayed there. I was so panicky, I didn’t know from where that came exactly, and just couldn’t really calm myself down. I fled to the sofa in my night time panic and sometimes fell back to sleep there 2-3 hours later. I’ve never felt so tired in my life and I felt like the issue was getting worse and worse.

So internet research started with the result, that CBTi seems to be a pretty good bet and with CBTi there was Joseph, whom I found to be the single best resource in the whole internet for insomnia.

Having started the program I have to admit that I was doubtful as much as I was hopeful, also because there was a big external factor involved, but having Josephs stories, experiences and sleep knowledge in the back of my mind I was able to stick through and now I’m 2,5 weeks in and seeing the first results :)

Enough about me, now about the audiobook: Joseph not only equips you with a lot of interesting and valuable information about sleep - what is important and also what really isn’t - but also with his own authentic experiences and stories in such a relatable and sympathetic way, that you will want to relisten to it (which I did). Above all: he gives you a strong sense of hope and belief in that you can too overcome your insomnia, which will give you the resolve to stick through the most effective treatment against insomnia - CBTi.

It's tough, but it works!
