Beautiful!
The author takes us to the deep South, to places only someone who knows the soul of the land can. From start to finish, the book is one riveting listen,, touching and intriguing, the language as beautiful as the story! The reader is to be commended for her extremely good portrayal of characters. I loved it!

Ich habe es in 2 Tagen verschlungen.
Wer Englisch einigermassen versteht, unbedingt auf Englisch hören!

Loved the book, now loved the audio 🌱

Great book, amazed by it, just very good.
Loved it, the story, the performance, loved it all. Surprised me, and I'm very glad I gave it a chance. If you are looking for a book that hooks you in and doesn't let go until the end, this is it.

a gripping, riveting story
The story pulls you in almost right off the bat. The reader does a fantastic job imitating the Southern drawl while giving all the different characters their own particular voice. The book opens up a whole new world to those (like myself) who are unfamiliar with marshland and its creatures.

Beautiful and exciting until the last minute
The beautifully told story of the courage of a girl and later woman who is first forced and then dares to be different in a narrow-minded community in South Carolina - the suspense of the included murder case lasts until almost the last minute.
