Please, handle with gentleness and care!

Ex-Navy SEAL Alex Rojas is one of the three guys running Hope´s Crossing Kennels. The place his friend Brandon started, has become a safe heaven for him. Here he can built a loving home for his young daughter Serena, rehabilitate dogs and keep a tight leash on his simmering anger. In their free time father and daughter are active members of the local martial arts club. When „Boom“ (what a fitting nickname for that girl) gets injured, they meet Elisa Hall in the ER and make friends with the shy woman, although Alex senses, that there is way more behind Elisa and the reason why she has been running away.

I love the second book of Piper J. Darke´s „True Heros“Series! What a roller coaster between violence and tenderness, manipulation and honesty and true courage! Alex and Elisa are perfect together despite their heavy emotional baggage. The author has very well developed all their diffentent character facettes. With his daughter Alex is great and caring, with the dogs in his resposibility he is calm and honest, but with Elisa he is protective all over. The suspense theme is haunting; and I really like Gary and Greg from the Martial Arts Studio!

Again Daniel Thomas May and Kristin Kalbli have made a phantastic job lending their voices to all the characters of this story and really bringing Alex, Elisa and Boom alive! The accent Alex had in story #1 doesn´t seem that prominent now and Mr.May brings out his fierce protectiveness, consideration and boiling hot temper changes well. Serena“Boom“ is an all sweet and active girl both narrators interprete great. Athough Elisa is mainly a soft person, thinking before speaking and working in a clearly stuctured way, her turmoil of fear, confusion and worry for others comes out perfectly. All in all a gripping plot with two great voice actors offering more than 8 hours exciting listening!
