Über diesen Titel
A lover from another time...
When Ted Ennis steps out the doors of the Criterion Theatre for a cigarette and finds himself in Victorian London, he begins to doubt his sanity. At first he thinks it's all a film set, and is sure that the strikingly handsome young man leaning against a lamppost must be the leading man.…
What starts as a sordid transaction with a beautiful rent boy quickly turns into something much deeper, drawing him back again and again as he gets to know Jem and craves meaningful encounters with him.
But Ted doesn't understand the exact conditions necessary for his trips through time - and for Jem, time may actually be running out. Now Ted has one last shot to get back to Jem and save their relationship, before it's too late.…

Sweet story
Good book, nice fluffy story, decent reader. Sound quality could be better at times. Overall worth it's money.

Charming
First things first - probably I would have given the book 4 stars but audiobook-version is narrated so good that I have to add another star because I was utterly charmed by the narrator.
It was kind of a shock - after listening to so many audiobooks suddenly a book narrated in British English...oh, charming. Seriously, the first time the narrator opened his mouth as Jem...*sigh* Could he be more a simple bloke? I loved the way Fleet Cooper narrated.
And now to the book. J.L. Merrow is a garant for solid story and love with average or a bit damaged characters.
So yes, it's a bit "Insta-love" but it's somehow believeable.
Ted is a damaged character, he has lost his parents and his husband a while ago and he himself has suffered injuries that still impair him. His selfvalue has suffered.
When he steps through time and meets Jem, the rentboy, it's the first time he allows himself to connect again to another person. Jem himself is just happy to be with Ted and very accepting.
So Ted comes again and again....and then he suddenly can't get back in time anymore. So he needs to find a way, find out what had been relevant for his time travel.
Both Ted and Jem are very likable characters and their connection is very sweet and well shown. I would have loved to see a bit more in the end but that's me....a sucker for extensive happy ends.
The book has the charm of a victorian novel, combined with lovable MCs and a good plot. I loved it.
