This is a dystopian novel set in a world dramatically altered by climate vchange. A refreshing take on the genre is that it‘s not mainly focused on the technical aspects, but more of a ‚social dystopia‘ in the veins of 1984. It also has a deeply human and - inspite of the bleak goings-on - hopeful side to it, which I really enjoyed.
The speaker did an amazing job as Cavanaugh.

Finally, and this is something Orwell didn‘t achieve in 1984, it has a well-crafted ending (... and I won‘t tell you if it‘s happy or not)

Leider sind die ersten Kapitel echt langweilig. Dann kommt man aber in die Geschichte rein und die Charaktere werden einem sympathischer. Der Sprecher ist sehr gut und angenehm zu hören.

An oration to a world which has lost something very essential.

This story touched me deeply and has left a feeling of despair with a glimmer of hope.

The protagonist, a quite regular dude, came to life sort of unobtrusively, calm amd honest. A good fellow human being as well as his spouse.

Lots of shades of grey.

Extremely well narrated, too.

Thanks for this great work of literature.
